Members of the ABES Engineering team visited Nashville this week to explore further opportunities in this beautiful city. (And no, they didn't shoot this amazing photo, but they wish they had. đź“·)

Currently, ABES works as a subconsultant to CDM Smith on a major municipal initiative to address combined storm and sanitary sewer systems under the Clean Water Nashville program. The program is a massive undertaking helping to ensure the environmental health of the Cumberland River and its tributaries for future generations.

ABES also works in Nashville with the Nashville Department of Transportation on various projects.

Nashville might be largely known as "Music City," but it's also one of the fastest growing cities in the United States with a rapidly growing tech industry and a competitive economy. In other words, it's booming in Nashville. And as Nashville continues to thrive, ABES is proud to play a role in keeping its infrastructure healthy and cutting edge.

During our 2026 company retreat earlier this month, we spent a relaxing evening at Audubon Park enjoying some delicious barbeque and good company. Our families joined us, which means we had plenty of kid energy.

It's always a joy to get to know our team not only on a professional level, but on a personal level as well. Sharing our hobbies, interests and families truly make us a team.

Water systems are critical elements of any civilization, and civil engineers make it happen. In fact, engineers have been designing, building and maintaining water infrastructure since ancient times. Early Roman engineers created sophisticated water systems to supply water to Rome and other cities. https://bit.ly/4f614zL

CEO Emmanuel Tuombe and ABES engineers Curtis Thompson, Jason Black and Grace Souder spoke to students at Trezevant High School recently, sharing insights into the field of engineering. Emmanuel also spoke with students in Seattle at Providence Mount St. Vincent recently.

It's always a pleasure when our team can meet with future professionals and share their thoughts, ideas and encouragement. Based on what we are seeing during these interactions, our future is bright!

As schools and universities finished up for the year, all of us at ABES want to wish students a great summer and an exciting future. Don't be afraid to go big!

It's been a whirlwind of activity lately at ABES, and we couldn't be happier.

In early May, our Louisville engineer Eliane Volk attended the 2026 Louisville MSD Field Day. She connected with fellow engineers, contractors, inspectors, floodplain and stormwater professionals and many others as they toured the Beargrass Creek Pump Station, explored water quality dos and don'ts and heard from MSD on engineering and operations updates.

Eliane managed to grab a few other attendees for a quick selfie, including MSD's Joy L. Walker and Chief Engineer David Johnson, as well as Bethany Shain and Katerina Mendoza, both with AECOM.

Today's post isn't about infrastructure or engineering. It's about people, and an excellent reminder that there are plenty of good ones out there.

When a fellow runner in this year's Boston Marathon fell to the ground short of the finish line, two runners stopped, picked him up off the ground and helped the man finish the race. Thank you Aaron Beggs and Robson Oliveira for showing us what true sportsmanship looks like.

Haridasse explained he felt humbled and honored that Oliveria and Beggs sacrificed their race times to help him.

During his recent visit to Seattle to connect with ABES Engineering Senior Engineer Nicholas Wong, CEO Emmanual Tuombe took advantage of the trip to take in some of the beauty of the area. (He also had the chance to connect with Curtis Thompson, an ABES Senior Engineer who is based in Montana but was also visiting the Seattle area.)

The group visited Mt. Rainier National Park, Narada Falls, and the city of Seattle.

CEO visits provide another opportunity for our team to connect on both a professional and personal level. Emmanuel will be visiting other members of the ABES team who are not based in Memphis in the coming days. Stay tuned for some gorgeous images from Montana, Colorado and Virginia.
