Steam turbine blades/buckets are critical components in power plants which convert the linear motion of high temperature and high-pressure steam flowing down a pressure gradient into a rotary motion of the turbine shaft. In other words, they are designed to convert the "heat " energy from the steam into "Mechanical " kinetic energy in the rotating turbine blades/buckets. It is not uncommon for blades to fail in service leading irreparable damage to steam path and unplanned outages.

Steam turbine blades/buckets are mainly manufactured using two machining processes. The first primary method is machining from solid bar materials, the other, machining from investment casted blades. Power Plant services utilizes 5 axis CNC machines to mill the blades to precision tolerances. Power Plant Services also carries wide range of blade materials in stock for quick turnaround times. PPS also increases durability of blade by any special Solid Particle Erosion (SPE) coatings, Stellite Erosion shield brazing for Intermediate Pressure & Low Pressure and reheat section stage to minimize erosion and ultimately extend life of blades.
