HE WAITED SIX YEARS FOR THIS MOMENT AND CAPTURED AN IMAGE THAT IMPRESSED NASA

Italian photographer Valerio Minato captured an extraordinary image from Turin showing a perfect alignment between the Basilica of Superga, Mount Monviso, and the Moon. The scene brought these three elements together on the same visual axis, creating a truly exceptional nighttime composition.

The photograph was not the result of chance. Minato spent about six years planning the exact moment when the Moon's position would match the perspective needed to achieve the desired framing after numerous calculations and careful preparations beforehand.

The image was finally captured on December 15, 2023, after several attempts were delayed mainly by weather conditions. It gained international recognition when NASA selected it as Astronomy Picture of the Day on December 25, 2023, receiving worldwide attention afterward.
