Tomorrow ends 100 years of a storied family business on Main Street Medina.
This decision is certainly not due to a lack of business, as we are having one of our best years ever!
Exceptional service has always been our family brand; a heavy heart delivers this message.
I grew up here at 345 North Main. My teenage after-school and summer schedule consisted of mopping floors and stocking shelves. The reluctant student; eventually to excel under the tutelage of THE greatest parts man the world will ever know: the dearly departed Mike Houseknecht.
Im extremely humbled to have operated as a fourth generation business beginning with my Great Grandfather M. Cady, continuing to my Grandfather John. It was here, that I truly got to know and spend time with my Father, my hero, Craig. A true family business, my brothers Ben, Josh, and Noah would have their tenure on the job as well. My Mother Sarah's laughter would brighten the workday when friends and colleagues would visit. I'd often sit in the office with her, just to chat about the day. I will miss their daily presence and encouragement dearly.
It has been my absolute pleasure to carry on this family legacy, to walk in the footsteps of the truly inspiring; within this historic building, full of stories of an incarcerated future US President, and deadly fires that would topple a tower! Barge right into a hotel on the Erie Canal, an anchor of a budding village.
I do regret that the timing of the new store did not allow us a much deserved Centenary Celebration.
My career as "NAPA Nick" will continue on! Beginning May 1st, I'll be servicing the needs of the Automotive and Agricultural community from the NAPA Auto Parts store on Maple Ridge Road in the Tops Plaza, where customer parking is plentiful.
See you down the road,
Nicholas Lacy
