The CEEO is applying for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (https://paesmem.net/) for STOMP. This award is "The Nation's highest honors for mentors who
work with underrepresented groups to develop fully the Nation's human resources in STEM.” This award would provide recognition for STOMP that would help us continue to find donors to support the program and would also provide a small award to support STOMP ($10,000). In the application we are talking about how STOMP has supported elementary students as well as how it has supported STOMPers. A component of the application is Letters of Recommendation from those who have been impacted by STOMP. We are soliciting letters from teachers, STOMP alumni, and parents of students.
I would love to have a letter from a current STOMP Fellow who feels that by participating in STOMP has supported your own pathway in STEM. Historically, we have heard from STOMP Fellows that STOMP helps them feel connected to engineering, helps them to feel more like an engineer, and provides another community with Tufts to connect with on engineering. The letter might also include stories about how you connected to those who are underrepresented in STEM via STOMP to support them in developing interest and goals that are engineering or STEM related. Let [email protected] know if you are interested!
The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) are the highest national mentoring award bestowed by the White House.
