The Story of AEGIS
Electro Static Technology was founded in 1984, by Jim McNulty. At the time, static removal in high-speed paper systems (faster than dot matrix printers) was dominated by powered systems. Jim’s innovation was using passive antistatic brushes. These brushes are mounted to paper-handling machines, and their conductive microfibers bleed static electricity off of paper as it brushes past.
In 1995, Electro Static Technology moved from Auburn, Maine, to its current location in Mechanic Falls. In 1999, EST was acquired by Illinois Tool Works, Inc. (ITW), a multinational manufacturer of highly engineered components and systems.
In 2005, Electro Static Technology-ITW introduced the AEGIS line of Shaft Grounding Rings for protecting electric motor bearings. We continue to work on new applications of conductive microfiber technologies.
