The-Bevel

The-Bevel Here at The-Bevel we believe in helping our customers get the right product that fits their needs. "I didn't have a dang clue in the beginning. Always.

The Bevel was formed with the expertise of amateur knife maker, Jeremiah Tague, who has a passion for the addiction of playing with hot steel and making pointy things. Forums are helpful and of course You-tube, but you really had to search for information and there is a lot that is not said. My goal is to build a business that can help you in that journey. If you got value from the information an

d interviews then I've succeeded whether you bought from me or not." - Jeremiah Tague

At the Bevel we live by 3 core company values. Integrity
We do the right thing. We do business with the highest
standards of ethics and professional behavior. Relationships
We believe that openness and honesty make for the best relationships
in business and in life. Strong and positive relationships are a big part
of what make the Bevel different from other online stores. Our customers, dealers and vendors are our top priority, period. Service
Plain and simple, we are here for YOU, the customer. Our goal is to
deliver the WOW factor in service. We strive for excellence in customer
service and are driven to provide value at all times.

Sadly, I have come to the decision to permanently close the bevel. I want to thank all of the wonderful patrons and supporters that made this endeavor a great experience. This year hit us very hard and I understand that folks need groceries more than they need knife making supplies.

There have been many learning experiences and a lot of great contacts as well as information gained over the short lifespan of this business and this is a decision I have been putting off for months.

Bladesmithing is a magical journey into a primal art form and I am always available to help in any way I can. If we manage to get into a better economy then we may look at relaunching in the future but for now FJB!!!!

Have fun, be safe, and always forge ahead my friends.

Did you know that our whole society has been built on tools that were crafted by hand? Think about our history as a whole for a moment and take a trip down the ol' rabbit hole with me. Who really knows how long ago a person picked up a rock and thought to themselves "Hey I need to make a cutting tool out of this so I can skin animals, make rope, make a better place to live and get more wood to heat my living space".

Progressively throughout the years tools got better and processes in making the tools more refined. We as a people have generally sought to create and improve our lives through the use of tools. In the modern ages we have slowly slipped away from the fundamentals that established our comfortable living today.

Can you imagine sitting and rubbing stones together for hours on end trying to achieve a cutting tool? I personally prefer using the Multitool 2x36 belt grinder over rubbing stones together. We have come a long way in our advances but in those leaps and bounds we have lost touch with the fundamentals that brought us to where we are.

I am passionate about blade and blacksmithing not just because it is fascinating and sometimes magical in a sense. It goes deeper to something almost primal. A remembering of the lineage and honoring of those that came before to give us this comfortable life. With every swing of the hammer and meeting of metals an echo into eternity both ways occurs.

When you hand something over that you created you give a piece of yourself. You give the gift of self and hopefully a piece that will continue forward in time echoing.

If you have read all of this and feel this way as well; honor your past and future and pick up a hammer today. Your work doesn't have to be impeccable, it won't be perfect, it will be flawed at some level just like the rest of us. Be safe, have fun, and forge ahead.

Day 2 down. 4 blacksmith knives done, 1 tanto compound grind ready for handles, 1 abomination of a curved tanto? With scales glued, 1 tri bevel compound grind utility karambit with scales glued, 1 on the bench, 1 seax completed and blacked out. Only about 20 hours of work left to do on the last 4! I'm exhausted 🥴

Busy week on the Ridge. Got a few things done and still more in progress! What do yall think?
