64 barges. 10,000 horsepower. One serious tow.

This Marquette Transportation Company vessel is powered by two Caterpillar 3612 Marine Propulsion engines, moving 64 barges down the Mississippi River.

To put that into perspective, each barge can carry roughly the equivalent of 70 semi loads of grain. That’s up to 4,480 truckloads of material moving by river instead of highway.

It’s a pretty incredible amount of horsepower and cargo moving up and down the Mississippi, often without much notice from the people watching from shore.

Just another day on the river. ⚓

A little hands-on time goes a long way.

Our Demo Operator, Todd, recently visited the City of Ironton to demonstrate a tilt rotator on their Cat mini excavator. The attachment gives operators more flexibility to work around obstacles with less machine repositioning, making everyday tasks a little more efficient.
