Just a reminder that your player’s game jersey, pants, and socks are included in your youth football registration fees. The other items available in the Riddell store are optional extras.

You are also welcome to purchase helmets and shoulder pads from another provider if you prefer. Riddell is currently offering a 25% discount on helmets and shoulder pads through the end of this month, so be sure to place your order soon if you’d like to take advantage of the savings. The discount will show once the item is in your cart and at checkout.

The store will remain open year-round, so you can still make purchases at any time after the discount period ends. Once you’re on the website, feel free to browse, but the items you’ll be looking for can be found under the “Gear” tab.

Additionally, our clothing store through Complete Team Outfitter will open in early August if you’d prefer to purchase apparel locally.

Mattawan Youth Football is excited to offer a girls-only flag football program this season! The program is open to girls in the following grade levels:

3rd/4th grade
5th/6th grade
7th/8th grade

Girls in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade will continue to play in our combined youth program.

Teams will follow the standard flag football schedule, with games beginning on Sunday, September 13th and running for a 7-week season. Because we will be playing against other schools, game locations will vary each week. Participating locations will include Gull Lake, Otsego, and Vicksburg so far. If needed, we may combine age groups with other schools to ensure full teams. However, interest within Mattawan has been strong so far!

To help create balanced teams, we will host a combine on August 12th. We are also looking for coaches, so if you're interested in helping out, we would love to have you involved by signing up as well!

Practices will be held once per week, with the possibility of additional practices depending on each coach’s discretion.

Last year, SW MI Girls Flag United launched an all-girls flag football league with teams from Vicksburg, Gull Lake, and Otsego. Several additional schools were very close to having enough athletes to form teams, and our goal this year is to build on that momentum by expanding participation and adding more schools—including Mattawan.

Potential divisions include:

7th / 8th Grade
5th / 6th Grade
3rd / 4th Grade (dependent on interest)

League Details:

Games are played on Sunday afternoons
Strong focus on development, fundamentals, and fun
Designed to introduce athletes to flag football and grow the sport
There is potential for this league to continue into Spring 2027, aligning with high school girls flag football, which is considered a spring sport
