For years, the intersection of S.R. 32 and Herold Road in Batavia presented significant safety challenges, including several fatal crashes and a very high percentage of serious injury crashes.

TEC Engineering worked with the Village of Batavia and Ohio Department of Transportation to redesign the intersection with safety in mind.

The new configuration restricts high-risk crossover and turning movements through concrete channelizing islands and median modifications, while maintaining an eastbound left-turn movement from S.R. 32 onto northbound Herold Road with a widened and extended turn lane.

The result: fewer conflict points, more predictable vehicle movements and a safer way to navigate this busy corridor.

We’re proud to see this important safety improvement move from design to reality and to continue helping communities engineer safer transportation systems.

Improving pedestrian safety, one crossing at a time. 🚶‍♂️🚸

TEC Engineering designed a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) along East Main Street in Xenia to help create a safer crossing for pedestrians. The project included ADA-compliant pedestrian features, upgraded electrical infrastructure, and targeted sidewalk improvements, all working together to enhance visibility and accessibility.

The Blue Rock Road Sidewalk project in Green Township is officially complete! 🚧

Our team at TEC Engineering was proud to work with Green Township to design these vital infrastructure improvements, creating a safer and better-connected corridor for the community - specifically Blue Rock Park. Our design work included:

🚶‍♀️ Pedestrian Connectivity: We filled a critical pedestrian gap by designing a connection from the existing sidewalks at Seiler Drive directly to Blue Rock Park. Our project scope spanned both sides of Blue Rock Road from Colerain Avenue to Seiler Drive.

💧 Drainage Solutions: Comprehensive drainage upgrades, including the design of new curbs and storm pipes.

Cambridge Avenue Reconstruction project in Columbia Township, Ohio is officially constructed!🚧

Our team at TEC Engineering was proud to work with Columbia Township to deliver improvements to Cambridge Avenue, creating a safer, more resilient, and better-connected corridor for the neighborhood. Operating in a tight urban residential environment, our completed work includes:
🛣️ Full roadway reconstruction and right-of-way plan development.
🚶‍♀️ Sidewalk additions to improve pedestrian connectivity along the corridor. 💡 Complete lighting design and pavement markings for enhanced safety.
💧 Major drainage solutions: To combat extreme historic flooding and capacity issues in the area, we designed and oversaw the installation of a massive 72-inch stormwater detention pipe.
🚗 Design of a brand-new parking lot off of Cambridge Avenue.
