Good Thursday Evening from the farm.

Tough day today. Terrilyn had college and I’ve actually been in bed all day due to my back pain. Going to my doctor in the morning for a pain shot and hopefully get some of the swelling down in my lower back.

Meanwhile, I just have to suck it up and drive on, as they say in the Army.

Quick feeding for the animals and a walk around video for you all. I was in the process of making a video showing our back area which we will be expanding into, but got interrupted, so when I’m up to it I’ll get that made.

There has been an animal attack the last 2 nights over by the Goat area. Something has gotten a hen each night, and we suspect it could be a Fox trying to get food since the nights have been colder.

I will be clearing a 2 ft area along the fence line there and we will be putting up more Electric Fence Netting to run along that side.

We installed a double fence in the Chicken area earlier this year after repeated losses, and since that has be up, we have had no attacks there.

The controller packs a punch, as I accidentally found out when I brushed up on one of the lines, so it’s pretty effective at its job.

Hope everyone has had a good week, and looking forward to this weekend. Stay safe.

Good morning from the farm.

I was going to make a video today showing the back area where we plan expanding and some of our critters, however this past week I have been getting pain in my lower back that is now to the point of effecting how I walk.

So I’ll be down a few days trying to get the swelling down and hopefully back to getting some fall footage for you all.

Terrilyn has college today, so I’ll be chilling out trying to stretch and probably be laying down with the pups protecting me.

Have a safe and good rest of the week.

Finally, Mama Muscovy’s eggs have started hatching. Seems like it’s been forever.

So far we have 4 maybe 5, she won’t let us see them.

Good Morning from the farm.

We must remind everyone: WE ARE NOT A PETTING ZOO, WE DO NOT ALLOW VISITORS IN OUR ANIMAL ENCLOSURES.

We are receiving text and calls from people trying to schedule visits to our goats and other animals. We do not offer any such activities at this time.

We are trying to track down who is putting out this false information and have already taken steps against some on-line social platforms that have been using AI to generate information on local area attractions that is wrong.

We apologize for any inconvenience in this matter.

Again: Brigyn Farm does not offer farm visits, meetings with our animals or any other Agri-Tourism activities at this time.

We are starting construction and repairs on our farm and will not be able to accommodate any visits.

Thanks to you all.

Amazing how Muscovy Ducks can change their colors after a good Molt. “Crackers” came to us in July from the Henry County Animal Shelter after no one came forward to claim him. We adopted him and he has done really well with our flock.

When he arrived, he was a pale to light tan brown and white. We never expected him to go through a drastic color change after his first Molt with us.

Today he is a beautiful dark chocolate color, and stands out in our flock since he is the only Muscovy we have that is this deep chocolate.

Well, that is….We had 5 ducklings born a few weeks ago, 4 standard yellow puff balls and a brown / yellow guy.

Mama is a mixed Black-Metallic Green and White color, so maybe Crackers is now a daddy? We would love move of the brown colors in our flock.

Our previous 3 ducklings are grown and are a White Female, a Gray-White Female and a Tuxedo Black -White Male.

One of our Muscovy’s hatched a baby this morning…Muscovy Ducks will hatch anything when they get in that broody mood.

We had a Muscovy hatch 17 Guinea Fowl a few years ago, and another Muscovy hatched a few chicks that were adopted by one of our hens because the Muscovy was still on Duck Eggs that can take up to 37 days to hatch.

This little chick will probably be adopted by Mrs.B who currently has a hatchling from last week with her, and she usually will sit on the Muscovy eggs when mama goes to eat.
