Stiff steering on your Maverick R with a P0562 code? That's a low system voltage fault, and it's a common reason the DPS module cuts assist.

Check your battery and charging system first. If voltage is good while idling and you're still getting the code, that points to a faulty DPS module, not a power issue.

Taillight out on your Maverick R? Before you assume it's the bulb or the module, check two things first: the fuse and the connectors.

A blown fuse or a corroded/loose connector at the taillight housing causes the exact same symptom as a bad bulb or wiring fault, and it's a five minute check before you go any further.

This video shows a magnet causing a Can-Am steering wheel to turn on its own, without any DPS module failure involved. The DPS uses a magnetic sensor to read steering input. If a speaker is mounted too close to the DPS unit, or a wiring harness carrying high current runs near it, the magnetic field can interfere with the torque sensor and cause the wheel to turn on its own with no warning or fault code.

Check for:
Aftermarket speakers mounted near the DPS unit
Wiring harnesses running high current routed close to the DPS
Any added electronics or accessories near the steering column

If you have stiff steering or jittery steering or your 40A dps fuse keeps blowing then, it is an issue with the DPS unit and we can repair it.

Here is a quick walkthrough on removing the Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) module from your Can-Am so you can send it in for repair. Covers Defender, Maverick X3, Outlander, Renegade, and Spyder F3 models, 2016 to 2025. If you're seeing a "Check DPS" warning, stiff or binding steering, or pulsing in the wheel, this is usually a DPS module issue, not a full replacement.
