To remind drivers of Michigan's new hands-free law, the Michigan Department of Transportation has begun installing "Hands-Free Device Use" signs at 37 locations along state line and border crossings, including this one on I-69 in Branch County. www.michigan.gov/DistractedDriving

The single-lane closure on eastbound I-94 over 9 Mile Road has been extended through noon Wednesday, Aug. 2, for additional bridge deck repairs.

Eastbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane at 9 Mile Road during the work. Significant delays are anticipated, and motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP
Road: N Dr S – 9½ Mile to M-311
Current Status: The road has been resurfaced. Gravel shoulders will be installed at the contractors next availability.
Detour: Single lane closure when workers present.

CONVIS TOWNSHIP
Road: N Dr N – SB I-69 Ramps to 15 Mile
Current Status: HMA overlay is complete. Gravel shoulders will be installed at the contractors next availability.
Detour: Single lane closure when workers present.

EMMETT CHARTER TOWNSHIP
Road: Raymond Rd Bridge Over MDOT Rail Corridor
Current Status: ROAD CLOSED. Ongoing. Removal and replacement of deteriorated substructure.
Detour: Road is closed during construction. The detour route is N. Wattles Rd.

Road: Emmett Township Local Road Program
Current Status: The contractor is working on punch list items throughout the township.
Detour: None

Woodland Beach Subdivision: Chip seal will take place in Emmett Township in the Woodland Beach Subdivision. We ask all residents not to park on the road and not to run their sprinklers systems. The over spray of the sprinklers greatly affect the chip seal process on how well the stone adheres to the road surface.

HOMER AND FREDONIA TOWNSHIPS
Gravel Road maintenance and brine application will take place.

LEE AND CLARENCE TOWNSHIPS
Second round of county mowing has started .

LEROY TOWNSHIP
Road: 4 Mile Rd – H Dr S to D Dr S
Current Status: Pulverizing of the existing roadway is expected to begin on Wednesday 8/2.
Detour: None. Road closed to thru traffic

MARENGO TOWNSHIP
Road: H Dr N – Mar-Lee School to 22½ Mile Rd.
Current Status: HMA overlay is complete. Gravel shoulders will be placed at the contractors next availability.
Detour: Single lane closure when workers present.

NEWTON TOWNSHIP
Road: 8 Mile – D Dr S to Division Dr.
Current Status: The road has been resurfaced. Gravel shoulders will be installed at the contractors next availability.
Detour: Single lane closure when workers present.

PENNFIELD CHARTER TOWNSHIP
Road: Morgan Rd – North Ave to M-66
Current Status: Contractors will continue underground utility work for the signal replacement at the intersection of Morgan Rd and North Ave.
Detour: None. Single lane closure during construction.

TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP
Road: Old-27 – Tekonsha Village Limits to M-60.
Current Status: The road has been resurfaced. Gravel shoulders will be installed at the contractors next availability.
Detour: Single lane closure when workers present.

Starting today, 8/1, construction will be happening in the 600 block of W Michigan Ave to repair a sanitary sewer main. Closure of 1 eastbound lane and the turn lane is required for this work. Through traffic will be allowed via a lane shift.
