The details are what separate a house from a home.

Look closely and you'll notice it everywhere: exposed rafter tails, carefully proportioned trim, authentic material selections, and craftsmanship that feels anything but off-the-shelf.

These are the subtle design decisions that shape how a home looks, feels, and ages over time.

Because great architecture isn't always loud, it’s intentional.

Not every dream beach house needs more square footage.

This Spring Lake home proves that thoughtful design, timeless materials, and architectural character can create a lasting impact without overwhelming the neighborhood.

From NuCedar shingles and copper accents to custom brackets and exposed rafter tails, every detail was chosen to feel authentic, like it has always belonged here.

The best homes don't compete for attention. They earn it through craftsmanship. If these details are what catch your eye then you are the kind of client that we design for.

There’s a certain point in the year when the house starts to open up. Windows stay open longer. Light lingers later. The kitchen naturally spills outward, toward the pool, the patio, the spaces that start to carry the day.

The interior stays quiet and refined, while outside, the inground pool and surrounding landscape introduce movement, texture, and a sense of ease. Nothing feels added on, everything feels considered as part of the same environment. It’s not about indoor versus outdoor. It’s about creating a home that moves between both without interruption.

If you’re exploring how your home could take advantage of that kind of connection, we’d be glad to walk you through it in a private session.

As the warmer months settle in, the kitchen becomes more than just a place to cook, it becomes a place to gather, reset, and move effortlessly through the day. Everything is working together to support that. Natural light pours in, drawing your eye straight through to the pool beyond. The patterned tile underfoot adds movement without overwhelming the room. Clean, tailored cabinetry keeps the palette calm and timeless. And the accent wallpaper above the windows quietly frames the view, pulling the outdoors further inside

Individually, these decisions feel subtle. Together, they shape how the space is experienced, especially in the summer months, when the connection between inside and out matters most. What many people overlook is how much these details influence daily life.

We’d be happy to walk you through these design decisions, and about how we can tailor decisions for your goals within your space.

In this home, the kitchen and dining areas will be rethought entirely. Right now, they feel tight and divided, limiting how the space can actually function day to day. At the same time, the existing deck sits just outside, but isn’t fully supporting how the homeowners want to live. So the question becomes: how do we create more usable space while strengthening the connection between inside and out?

The solution will be to enclose that deck and rework the layout, creating a space for dining, gathering, and everyday living that flows naturally from the kitchen.

We guide our clients through those trade-offs early, so the result not only looks right, but works right. Watch the full video to see how the vision takes shape.

A kitchen renovation isn’t just about updating what’s there. Without the right approach, it’s easy to invest in finishes while leaving the underlying layout, and its limitations, unchanged.

For this project, the focus was on reworking the space itself: improving circulation, maximizing light, and aligning the kitchen with how the home is actually used. That’s where long-term value is created. Most homeowners, and even many builders, don’t fully account for how these early decisions impact the final result.

We guide our clients through those nuances so the design performs as well as it looks. If you’re thinking about renovating, we typically start with a conversation around your goals and how the space can best support them.

Where vision meets reality. This intimate breakfast nook captures the essence of thoughtful design—beginning as a hand-sketched concept and resolving into a refined, built-in moment that feels both effortless and exacting.

👉🏻 Here, we’re sketching to reveal some of the hidden considerations behind this classic breakfast niche -- where proportion, light, and comfort all come together.

With a 9’ ceiling, we introduce headers to frame the double-hung windows, allowing natural light to become a defining feature of the space. Traditional in style, but intentional in every dimension, decisions like these are where we quietly shape how a space is lived in.

Because a breakfast nook isn’t just about seating, it’s about where your morning begins - where proportion, light, view, and comfort all come together.

💭 We’d love to walk you through design decisions like this and how they can be tailored to your home.

For the ones who do it all, moms, and the ones who step into both roles, there should be a place to slow down, reset, and just be. Spaces like this aren’t just about design… they’re about creating a quiet retreat within your own home. A place for morning light, fresh air, and a moment to yourself before the day begins again.

Happy Mother’s Day.

It usually starts in the kitchen. Morning light coming in, coffee in hand, the house just starting to wake up. But what most people don’t realize is how much the experience of a home changes when that moment extends beyond the walls. A direct connection to an outdoor space... protected, comfortable, usable even on those early spring mornings or cooler nights... becomes part of how you actually live.

It’s about creating a seamless transition between inside and out… one that supports everything from quiet mornings to long evenings with family and guests. That’s where design decisions begin to shape lifestyle.

If you’re exploring how your home could evolve, we’re happy to start with a conversation around your goals and how your space can support them.

Designed with the same level of intention as its en-suite bathroom, this guest space is meant to feel considered—never secondary.

Natural light, soft views, and a sense of quiet separation create a retreat where guests can ease into the day, enjoy their morning coffee, take a call in comfort, or simply enjoy a slower pace. It’s a space that supports both privacy and connection—something many of our clients value when hosting family and friends.

Because a well-designed home doesn’t just accommodate guests—it elevates their experience.

If you’re rethinking your home, we’re happy to begin with a conversation around how each space can better support the way you live and host.
