So I’ve been working this knife. Boy , it’s been a challenge. This is the first laminated knife that I have completed. It done in the San Mai method, that’s Japanese for three layers. The outside is a mild steel with 1095 high carbon steel inside. The layers are all forged in my shop. I’m also working out a more traditional handle construction style. This thing is a laser. Hopefully after vacation, I’ll be able to refine my process.

Delivered a boning knife recently. AEB-L stainless steel blade with ambroyna burl and mango handle. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. I do everything in house, blade works, heat treat, handle and leather work.

So far, the new heat treat oven and controller are working well. This is the first run on this oven after I built it. Crossing enough fingers to look like I’m a gang member !!

Finally getting some work done.

This full size cleaver went to its new home a couple weeks ago. 1095, Wenge/G10 and Paduk. What a workhorse!

Well things have been busy and distracted here for the last few months! Factor in a random root canal and it gets crazemo. I’ve been working on a kiln-to-heat treat oven conversion. It’s going well, and I hope to have a working heat treat oven in a couple days. I’m working out some electrical issues, the YouTube maker isn’t real clear on his wiring schematics! Might be time to regroup! I actually have been working on blades. I have a two knife set that is finally ready, a Serbian style cleaver going in the mail tomorrow. Handle making is happening tonight, as long as the meds make it bearable!
