After Yampa Valley Housing Authority was gifted 534 acres of land west of Steamboat Springs, CO, the weight of the major housing concerns this area was experiencing was lifted off their shoulders.

PSE is proud to be working with Yampa Valley Electric Association and Yampa Valley Housing Authority on a Community Work Plan that will help them determine how they can serve a sustainable and affordable housing community in the space and location they have available to them.

The experts at PSE understand that the unexpected can and may happen during any project, which is why they always consider every factor, from delivery lead times for recommended equipment to future load considerations such as electric vehicles and renewable energy, to ensure the success of both the project and the client.

Helping our clients achieve their goals and working alongside them to help bring their dreams to life is what motivates us to do the tremendous work our experts do.

Thank you, Yampa Valley, for the opportunity to collaborate with you and for allowing us to be a part of this encouraging milestone for your community!

A handful of PSE's Madison, WI colleagues headed over to Lacy Gardens this month to help harvest as the fall season began to creep in. The PSE group harvested, cleaned, and packaged 370 pounds of potatoes in just 2.5 hours.

This was a great group effort on all parts as colleagues were taking turns with the pitchforks because the ground was so dry. The Lacy Gardens Manager drove the potatoes over to the food pantry that night to be shared with the community.

The Gardens as a whole this year, have harvested close to 4900 pounds of food and have around 2200 more pounds to harvest before the season is over. This organization truly makes a difference in our Madison community and we are thankful to have started this volunteering relationship with them.

A few weeks ago, the City of Negaunee, MI broke ground on its new two-transformer electric distribution substation. To shed light on the city's overall electric system and determine a plan for addressing aging equipment and system resiliency, PSE performed a substation study back in 2021.

PSE has been working closely with the City of Negaunee over the past two years to develop a substation and distribution line design that focuses on replacing aged infrastructure, providing backup capability, improving efficiency over the long term of the electric system, providing the ability to accept new load such as electric vehicle charging, and to prepare for other economic opportunities should they occur.

The ground-breaking ceremony was such a rewarding moment for everyone involved. Very special thank you to PSE's Nicole Hall, E.I.T., and Jamie Sieren for championing this effort with Negaunee. Your contributions to our clients are immeasurable.

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Electric Department broke ground on a new substation Monday. According to a Lake Superior Community Partnership press release, the Negaunee Electric Department announced the commencement for its south-side additions of two 7.5 megavolt amp transformers that will supply four...

It is a rainy day at PSE's Headquarters in Madison, but that wasn't the case a few weeks ago when a crew of colleagues from our Madison office volunteered at Lacy Garden, a local garden that serves the Society of St. Vincent de Paul — Madison food pantry.

The top task that day was getting much-needed water to the parched plants. PSE's Jim Weikert offered the use of his truck as a water wagon, delivering water to the group of volunteers who were watering all of the produce with cans and buckets.

Other PSE volunteers harvested greens, planted squash and onions, and weeded rows of other vegetables. It was a rewarding afternoon and it definitely made us all more thankful and appreciative of the damp days, like today.

For communities in rural areas, when there is an outage, it could take hours to dispatch crews. While this is something that so many communities undergo when there is a storm or unexpected outage, Alliant Energy doesn’t want to see it continue. That is why a first-of-its-kind project in Wisconsin has been implemented in the small Village of Boaz.

PSE was proud to serve on the electrical engineering side of the microgrid project with Ola Boye, VP of Renewable Energy Resources, and his team, working on the balance of the plant’s electrical design. The project comprises three EPC Power inverters and BYD LFP batteries. The system is designed to provide more than eight hours of backup power to the community in an outage, so hopefully, the town will never be without power again.

Did you know that PSE offers a scholarship to those pursuing a degree in the electrical power or industrial industries? The PSE Merle T. Lebakken Scholarship was created in honor of our founder, Merle T. Lebakken, who exemplified the importance of building and honoring client relationships. Today, that is still one of PSE’s driving forces, which is why this scholarship is client-focused and available to those who receive a letter of recommendation from an active PSE client.

Client relationships go further than the professional environment for PSE, and we encourage our clients, and those in their personal lives, to always strive toward their goals and dreams.

The application window for the PSE Merle T. Lebakken Scholarship closes on March 22. For more information, please visit our scholarship webpage:
