Fall DOT inspection prep - what to check before you book.

If you do nothing else this fall, do an honest pre-inspection walkaround on every truck in your fleet. Most violations we see are things that should have been caught in a pre-trip but didn't get the time they deserved.

Here's the 7-point walkaround we use at Lodi. Print it. Hand it to your drivers. Or run them in for a real inspection; we'll catch what your guys missed and tell you the truth.

What's on the shelf at Madison right now: leaf springs, U-bolts, brake drums, brake shoes, hub seals, bearings, axle parts, shocks, air bags, and a lot of other stuff that's hard to find on a Tuesday afternoon when you need it.

We don't carry deep inventory because it looks good. We carry it because when you call at 2 PM needing a part for a truck that has to leave at 5, we want to be able to say yes.

Welcome to September. Fall service season starts here.

The leaves haven't turned yet, but the calls have already changed tone. DOT inspections. Pre-winter checks. Suspension work for the trucks that survived summer hauls. This is when our schedule gets full.

If you've got work to do before the snow flies, this is the month to call. The closer we get to November, the longer the wait. Lodi's already taking inspection bookings.

Last call to get ahead of it!

If you've been meaning to put your fleet through brake inspections, this is the week. After Aug 23, you'll be competing with everyone else who waited. Before then, you've got our crew's attention and a smaller waitlist.

What we check at Lodi: drum/rotor condition, slack adjusters, brake lines, chambers, air system, S-cams. Whole brake system, top to bottom. Honest report. Real fix list if there is one.
