No better way to start the day than with breakfast! šŸ³ā˜•ļø

This summer has gone by way too fast! It’s hard to believe some of our mowing crew will soon be heading off to college, while others are getting ready to start fall sports practices!šŸˆ

We truly cannot say THANK YOU enough to this amazing group of men! We are so grateful for the time, effort, and dedication each one of them has put in this summer. From the early mornings and hot days to the long hours and hard work, they have shown up and given it their all. šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

We are especially thankful for the opportunity to work alongside them, get to know each of them, and watch them grow throughout the summer. They have been such an important part of our season, and we appreciate each and every one of them more than they know! ā¤ļø

Thank you for all your hard work, your positive attitudes, and for helping make this a great start to summer at Luverne Lawn Care! The work isn’t done and we will still see most of you the rest of the season BUT this was a great way to just take a little break and say thank you!

To those boys who are off to college—good luck!! We’re cheering you on! šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸŽ‰

It’s going to be quite hot this week! Make sure you’re taking precautions when mowing your lawn.

Be sure to mow in the late evening when the sun and temperatures have dropped, or during the mid-morning after the dew has completely dried but before the peak afternoon heat.

We can’t stress enough — mow high! Set your mower deck between 3½ to 4 inches. Taller grass retains more moisture and provides shade to the soil, helping prevent it from drying out during hot weather.

Also, never remove more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing. Scalping the lawn during a heatwave can severely damage the grass and create a slow recovery.

Finally, make sure your mower blades are sharp. Dull blades tear the grass instead of cutting it cleanly, causing the lawn to lose moisture more quickly and turn brown.

It’s only the end of May, but lawns are already becoming incredibly stressed this season. The constant hot and cold temperature swings have lawns very confused. We have also received very little rainfall for this time of year.

Have you noticed footprints or mower tracks staying visible in your yard? What you’re seeing is called heat tracking. Heat tracking occurs when grass is compressed during hot and dry conditions, causing footprints and mower tire marks to remain visible. With the major temperature fluctuations we’re experiencing right now, it’s becoming more common.

Until we begin seeing more frequent rainfall, it’s especially important to mow between 3½ and 4 inches tall. Taller grass helps shade the soil and retain moisture. If you are able to, watering your lawn will also help reduce stress.

If you notice heat tracking, it is a non-permanent stress injury. If you gently tug on the grass, you’ll see the roots are still white, flexible, and strong. Be patient — the grass will recover once conditions improve.

Please call our office with any lawn-related questions you may have. We would love to talk with you!
