We used AI to create this video to help show the StepUp in action.

We’re a very small company, so please excuse the lack of polished, studio-level content—this video was created by a lineman, not a production studio.

We’d genuinely love to hear what you think of the product. If anything in the video isn’t clear or you’re not sure what you’re looking at, please ask us questions in the comments. Your feedback helps us improve.

Designed by a Journeyman Lineman. Built to Solve a Lineman’s Problem.

In this video, founder and inventor Bruce Thompson Sr. demonstrates just how quick and easy it is to install the StepUp.

The StepUp works on any pole and was primarily designed to overcome one of the biggest challenges linemen face when working from stepped poles: having to work off the pole steps and out of position.

That problem becomes even more apparent on steel and composite poles, where traditional steps can make positioning yourself properly difficult or uncomfortable.

The StepUp gives you a stable working platform that lets you get your feet underneath you and work in a much more natural position. Unlike a Baker board, the StepUp is designed to be easier to install, easier to work from, and more versatile in the field.

And this isn't a product designed by someone sitting behind a desk.

The StepUp was designed by a Journeyman Lineman who understood the problem because he lived it.

The goal was simple: find a better way to work from the pole without constantly fighting the steps or putting your body in a compromised working position.

Work smarter. Work more comfortably. Work in position.

Working Smarter Starts Early

At this year's LADWP Lineman's Rodeo, we had the opportunity to watch aspiring apprentice linemen demonstrate their skills and determination.

In this video, one apprentice is working from traditional pole steps. In the next scene, another apprentice performs the same task while standing on the StepUp.

The difference is easy to see.

With the StepUp, the apprentice is able to work from a more natural, balanced position, reducing unnecessary reaching and strain while improving comfort and control. Good work habits developed early can help protect a lineman's body throughout an entire career.

If your body is your paycheck, it makes sense to invest in the tools that help protect it.

The StepUp was designed by linemen, for linemen, to create a safer and more ergonomic work position on the pole.

Sometimes, seeing the difference is all it takes.

Our good friend and Journeyman Lineman, Jeff Arechiga, starts this demonstration working from standard pole steps, then repeats the same task using the StepUp.

Watch how the StepUp allows Jeff to comfortably reach the end of a 10-foot crossarm while maintaining a proper working position. Instead of overreaching or working at the limits of his balance, he's able to stay in a more stable, natural position and focus on the work.

A big thank you to Jeff for taking the time to demonstrate the StepUp and for being a great friend and supporter of Effective Safety Products. We appreciate you!

If you've never stood on a StepUp, videos like this help show the difference—but experiencing it firsthand says even more.

A big shout-out to longtime friend Mike Henderson for stopping by the Effective Safety Products booth and giving our new Composite Pole Top Simulator a try. Thanks, Mike!

The StepUp is one of those products you really have to experience for yourself to fully appreciate.

In this video, Mike is comfortably reaching the end of a 10-foot arm and working well out toward the line. No awkward stretching. No fighting for position. Just solid footing, proper body mechanics, and a stable work platform.

Watching the video, it's easy to see the difference proper positioning can make. The StepUp allows linemen to work from a stronger, more natural position while reducing the need to overreach and place unnecessary strain on the body.

As linemen, we're often taught to push through discomfort and get the job done. The problem is that pain is not weakness leaving the body—it's your body's way of telling you that damage is being done.

If your body is your paycheck, it's time to start listening to it.

The goal isn't simply making it to retirement. The goal is arriving there with a body that's still capable of enjoying life, spending time with family, pursuing hobbies, and doing the things that matter most.

Every unnecessary reach, awkward position, and strain on your shoulders, back, and knees adds up over a career. Working smarter today can make a tremendous difference years down the road.

Work smart. Protect your body. Invest in your future.

Your body will thank you for it.
