I thought I was doing pretty good until I tested it out to make sure it was strong and everything crumbled like peanut brittle should I just have used tig instead?

Found in Inner Harbor Baltimore: looks like a 4.3mm drill bit, completely clean and protected in plastic tubing.

The scrap gods have smiled down on me yet again!

I’m fairly certain all these components are some degree of bearing steel. The ball bearings were used to allow those collars/cylinders(proper name?) up and down the shafts. Nicholson flat bastard skates right off both shafts and both cylinders. Downside is everything was heavily greased up. Would this be good material for hammering out a few decent blades?

Is a Gold Weld a Good Weld?

Did some low heat pulse welding the other day on a job i've never done before! Ive done TIG on thin stainless before but it was my first time on these specific parts! Turned out gold!

Is it good to have a gold hue to your weld once your finished?

Hello, 5th year apprentice here looking for some advice on making this cap a little more uniform. I’m running 1/8” 6010 and 3/32 7018 at 80 amps for both on this schedule 40 3” pipe. I think I need to work on my consistency and maybe tying in my toes a little better. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
