At 16:37 Londonderry Fire Communications Center (TCO’s Loomis & Farr) received a 911 call reporting an unknown odor in the building at 1 Charleston Ave. Members of Battalion 3 staffing Engine 2 (Lt/P Maccarone, FF Sorenson & FF Marotta) Ladder 2 (Lt/P C.Schofield, FF/P Lopata & FF Mague) Engine 1 (Lt Blake, FF/P Gagne & FF Theve) & BC-3 (BC Camire) were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Ladder 2 arrived at 16:42:57 and reported no obvious conditions from the exterior of a 3 story apartment building with partial evacuation. The crew of Engine 2 entered the building and reported a smoke condition on the 1st floor and activated the fire alarm to evacuate the remainder of the building. BC Camire ordered the assignment to be filled (Building Fire response) bringing Rescue 1 (FF Wood & FF Trickett) Paramedic 1 (FF/P Dermody) K-1 (DC Johnson) a Derry Engine, Derry Medic & Salem Engine to the scene.

Companies located a fire burning in a wall between two apartments and were able to quickly open up and extinguish. Crews remained on scene overhauling and ventilating the building and Fire Prevention conducted their investigation before turning the property back over to the property rep.

The Derry Medic remained on scene for force protection while the Derry Engine (C) & Salem Engine (2) were diverted for station coverage.

At 13:03 Londonderry Fire Communications Center (TCO’s Loomis & Farr) received a 911 call reporting a Brush Fire at 15 Gerry Ln. Members of Battalion 2 staffing Engine 1 (Lt/P Cotton, FF Gelineau & FF DeCarli) Engine 2 (Lt/P Lamy, FF Greenbaum & FF Bartels) Forestry 3 (Lt/P England & FF Young) Tanker 1 (FF/P Lopata) and BC-2 (BC Hallowell) were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Battalion 2 arrived to find an approximately 200 x 100 area burning and spreading quickly. With the fire spreading in multiple different directions coupled with the 95 degree temperature a 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing C-1 (Chief Young) a Derry Engine, Derry Forestry, Auburn Tanker & Bedford Ambulance to the scene.

As companies worked and the fire continued its spread a 3rd alarm was transmitted bringing a Merrimack Engine, Litchfield Engine, Hudson Engine, Windham Forestry & a State of NH Forest Ranger to the scene.

Command then reported the fire was now multiple acres with the forward progress stopped but with a lot of work still needed on scene the 4th alarm was transmitted bringing a Pelham Engine, Manchester Engine, Nashua Engine, Hampstead Forestry & Auburn Forestry to the scene.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was evaluated on scene.

At 22:33 last evening Londonderry Fire Communications Center (TCO Lemear) received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 9 Justin Cir. Members of Battalion 4 staffing Truck 1 (Lt/P Barsaleau, FF Dembkoski & FF/P Bourque) Engine 1 (Lt DeVoe, FF Stocks & FF Sargent) Engine 2 (Lt/P C.Schofield, FF/P Shubina & FF DeCarli) Paramedic 1 (Lt/P Barnett) Tanker 1 (FF Proulx & FF Covel) BC-4 (BC Anderson) along with a Derry Engine, Derry Medic & Litchfield Tanker were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

While companies were responding LPD arrived and reported a well involved structure and the “Working Fire” was transmitted bringing Rescue 1 (Lt/P England & Lt/P B.Schofield) C-2 (Asst Chief Heinrich) C-3 (DC LeBlanc) a Manchester Engine, Windham Tanker, Bedford Tanker & Auburn Tanker to the scene.

At 22:40:32 companies arrived with Truck 1 reporting a 1.5 story wood frame with heavy fire showing.

Crews from Engine 1 & 2 deployed hoselines and performed an aggressive interior attack while Truck 1 & Rescue 1 conducted a primary search. Tanker 1 established a water supply while the Derry company performed vertical ventilation.

Two occupants reported smoke inhalation and a 2nd ambulance was requested to the scene from Bedford.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at a local ER.

The Professional Firefighters of Londonderry would like to wish Firefighter Kesler Lyons safe travels and the very best as he embarks on an active-duty deployment with the Vermont National Guard.

FF Lyons was hired in October 2023 and has proudly served on Battalion 2 since joining the department. We thank him for his continued service and dedication to both his community and his country.

We look forward to his safe return home!
