Alright alright alright I have 2 good ones that need to go to their forever homes. As you can see neither is 100% complete yet but I wanted to post them to see if anyone is interested in one or both. I still need to clean some epoxy off the blades and do a final scratch removal on the blades. Also neither one has even been sharpened. Actually neither of them has as much as a rough edge at this time. The filet knife is industrial bandsaw blade steel with canvas micarta handle scales and copper liners. The fixed blade hunter has honeycomb scales that you just need to see in person. I don't think you can see how complex the honeycomb pattern is by looking at a picture. I'm always ready to talk about any of my knives. Holler at me if you are interested or if you have any questions. What's your opinion on them Cruce Knives?? I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for looking

It has been awhile since I have had time to get into the shop and actually be productive. These two knives are for a friend of mine. They are supposed to be a matching identical set. Yes I'm aware that they're not a perfect mirror image of each other. It's kind of tricky to make two knives that are exactly the same when every part of the process is done by hand. I use a generic, pawn shop find 1"×30" belt sander to rough shape the handles and a angle grinder with a cutoff wheel to cut the shape of the blade from the flat stock. That's the only machines involved. Other than those two tools, I am the machine. Hours of standing at the work bench with a hand file making bevels or rough sharpening the business side of a blade. Countless hours of sanding and polishing just to get the finish that I'm looking for. I won't settle for good enough. Its either right or wrong and that's the way it has to be. I'm sure you've heard the term "green with envy". Let me introduce you to The Envy Twins. Keep hammering. Thanks for looking

Alright alright alright. Good morning everyone. I haven't had much time to spend in the knife shop lately. This whole job thing really cuts into all the things I like to do. I have this knife that I started over a week ago. Its a hunting knife as you can probably tell. The idea for the knife popped into my head a couple weeks ago as I was in the process of cleaning a deer that I had harvested. I was using another concept knife that I made with a gut hook. The knife performed fine and the hook did exactly what it is designed to do but when I got up into the heavy part of the breastbone I ran into a problem. The smaller skinning knife with the gut hook wouldn't get through the bone. I had to go back to my shop and get a saw to finish the job. Thats where this crazy design came from. Its a first for me. I have never tried to make a knife with a saw built in. I'm not sure it will even work. The saw teeth might be too aggressive or maybe the spacing on the teeth isn't right. I'm not sure but what I do know is it feels really good in the hand and I love it. Its not completely finished yet. It's probably 80% as you can tell by the scratches still visible on the blade and handles. So go ahead and pick it apart. Tell me all the reasons why it won't work. Like I said it's a first attempt so maybe its a complete failure buuuuut there's a slight chance it isn't. I guess I'll find out the next time I harvest a deer. Hey I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for looking.
One more thing, Christmas is coming up soon so if anyone would like to talk about a one of a kind custom knife made right here at the Poor House shop I would love to talk with you. If I make a custom knife for you I will guarantee it will be what you want exactly as you envisioned it and you will never see another one just like it. If you don't like it you don't pay for it PERIOD

Good morning once again. Well I finished another one and it has been safely transported to its new home. Me and Karen had a wonderful visit with some very special family Monday evening. I don't put names of customers in my posts but I will tell you that the 2 knives they left with, now reside in the state of Missouri. The knife with the hybrid handle scales was a order that was placed long ago. It is a birthday present for a truly great man. The green handle knife is something that I decided to build last minute. I poured the scales and used green to represent the absolutely delicious pawpaw fruit that I love. The owner of the knife also loves them so I decided to make her a knife to peel and cut up her pawpaws. If you look you will see the actual pawpaw seeds that I used in the scales. I think the owner kind of liked it. She was definitely surprised. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for looking

It has been awhile since I've made any progress in the knife shop. Work gets in the way of everything. I finished this one this morning. Its not perfect but that's ok because its my personal knife. Its a tribute to my dad. Anyone that knew him knew how much he loved fishing and his knives. I poured these handle scales and put in a couple fishing items that were in one of my dads tackle boxes. The oddly shaped hooks are pike hooks. I have years of memories of pike fishing with my dad. It was one of my favorite things to do with him. The hair jigs are just really beautiful so I decided they should be incorporated as well. I can't say for sure but I believe the hair jigs were tied by Brian Belcher but I'm not 100% on it. Anyway I hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for looking

I finally had a little free time to finish this little kitchen knife that I started a couple weeks ago. It turned out pretty good. Its far from perfect but I reckon it will peel a tater. If you look close you can see how deep the swirl is. The last picture is for the most beautiful peaceful loving hippie ever my aunt Bunny L Coldiron. That peace sign reflection is for you aunt Bun. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Thanks for looking

I spent yesterday in the shop just trying to keep my mind right because fathers day is one of my least favorite days of the year. 2019 made it 1000 times worse. I finished a couple knives that I started last weekend. The little cleaver is one that I've been thinking about for awhile. I have a bigger cleaver made by Case so the smaller version is called "Little Brother". The other knife was kind of a wildcard. No real direction other than its based on the "Wedding Crasher" design. I had the handle scales in my inventory so I decided to use them. I put a lot of time into the sanding and polishing of the handle. I wanted to show how smooth the bolts turned out that's why the dollar bill is in one of the pictures. You can definitely see the seal of the treasury in the reflection. You probably thought I was flexing with that dollar. Anyway its time to get er done. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for looking

Here's another one just finished this morning. This one is a first attempt at smaller paring style kitchen knife. I think its probably in the top 3 sharpest knives in the state right now. Guess who sharpened the other two 🤪 🙃 You think you have one that's sharper than this one?? Let's talk about it. I love a good debate. I didn't really have a good name for this one. Its a gift for someone but they don't know it yet so I can't say too much. The name finally came to me this morning and when it did I knew that it was the only name that made sense. I call this one Simple Man. The words in the song will tell you why. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for looking

Good morning everyone. I have a couple knives that I'm working on currently but there's always room for more. If anyone has an idea for a knife that you might want at some point, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to talk with you about your ideas. Im doing a small kitchen knife right now to see how it turns out. I did a fairly large kitchen knife awhile back and I think it turned out pretty good. I also offer repairs on knives that have maybe been damaged over time or possibly just need a good cleaning and polishing to bring it back to life. Maybe you have a knife that has been in your family and passed down from generation to generation. Let's talk about giving it a face-lift. Anything I do for a customer is and will always be whatever the customer wants. I think that's what sets me apart from other knife makers. You could have ideas that make absolutely no sense to me but they don't need to. You're the customer and my most important job is to give you what you ask for. So if anyone would like to talk about a build or repair of any kind please do not hesitate to contact me. No obligation whatsoever. I really do love hearing ideas and talking to you about knives. One more thing before I go, I'm thinking of doing a giveaway. I'm not sure what style, shape, size knife would be most appealing. If anyone has any input please comment on this post. Like I said I build what you want not what I want. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for the support
