Junior Accountant

Midwest Mechanical Industrial Services is a fast growing, ever changing construction company based in Logan, Iowa. We provide industrial maintenance and perform industrial construction at grain handling, aggregate (mining) facilities, and industrial plant sites. We operate machining equipment, and perform internal vehicle & equipment maintenance. We also provide industrial electrical services. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and willing to be a part of a team.

Position Purpose: The Junior Accountant assists management with day-to-day processing, tracking, and reviewing accounts payable, billing, and receivables.

Job Duties:

· Maintains Electrical and Machine Shop job list.

· Invoices for Electrical, Machine jobs, and NatureWorks.

· Reconcile customer accounts.

· Manages Accounts Payable Software

· Reviews for accurate GL accounts and job coding

· Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

· Process payments for the company’s entities.

· Audits Statements

· Initiate contact on outstanding accounts receivable.

· Ensure property tax payments are issued timely.

· File 1099s, 1094/1095 at year-end.

· File sales tax returns.

· Assist with software integration.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into computer software and systems.

· Ability to troubleshoot software issues.

· Knowledge of general accounting.

· Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office

Education and Experience:

· High school degree / GED (Required)

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required (Required)

· Valid Driver’s License (Required)

Compile, organize and enter time for 120+ employees in multiple states for weekly payroll

Track hours and time off for employees

Communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and employees

Qualifications
