How it's done. Mint harvest, Step 3, distilling the mint oil.

The oil is used to flavor toothpaste, chewing gum, and other products we all use. US-grown mint has the best flavor. It's not harsh like some foreign crops. The short-chopped mint crop is distilled close to the field so the steam box can get back quickly for another load of chopped mint.
