1000 Gallon Smokers are no joke when it comes to size.
This offset made the long journey from Lockhart, Texas all the way to Melbourne, Florida. We feel pretty lucky to get to build the tools people use to spread Texas-style barbecue across the country and beyond.

About Us:
Mill Scale Metalworks designs and manufactures premium outdoor live-fire cooking equipment. We take pride in producing high-quality Texas-made products with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Press Brake Operator to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up and operating CNC press brakes to accurately bend and form steel components according to engineering drawings and production requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where quality, precision, and teamwork are highly valued.

Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC press brake.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Perform accurate bending and forming operations.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring tools.
- Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with general fabrication and production tasks as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience operating press brakes in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to safely lift materials and work in a shop environment.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- MIG welding experience.
- General metal fabrication experience.
- Experience with production manufacturing processes.

FRIENDS OF THE FIRE ANNOUNCEMENT: HEATS HOUSE

Justin Holden and Jodie Holden are the co-owners and operators of Heats House in Lockhart, Texas. This little gem is an experiential take on the standard Bed & Breakfast. Guests who stay at Heats House have the option to book a private live-fire dinner experience. Justin is the creative force driving menu direction and managing fires. He brings his meticulous attention to detail, love of food, fire, and celebration of various cultures to the experience. He is completely self-taught, spending years honing his skills bringing flavors of to life.

Jodie spent years in the hospitality industry from front of the house to operations management in Austin, as well as, working for a chef and restaurant groups in New York City. She brings her skills and operational experience to Heats House with her creativity, collaborative menu planning, approachable personality, and welcoming hospitality.

PINKERTONS BBQ x MILL SCALE

There is something very special about celebrating something old, with something new. When Grant Pinkerton was dreaming this rig up, he wanted it to feel like something more personal than a standard rig.

He reminisced on the times he'd spent with us uncle in Junction, TX. Memories of the brown Ford F100 truck and rusty farm equipment started to bring the vision to life. Once he combined that nostalgia with the vintage look and feel of the newest Pinkerton's location, the design was cemented in his mind. The story resonated deeply with our team and paved the way for a one of a kind rig. The brown trailer frame, cream propane tank, rusty firebox, and brass accents came together better than we could've imagined.

FRIEND OF THE FIRE ANNOUNCEMENT: DAMIEN BROCKWAY

We crossed paths with Damien Brockway years ago, when he had a big dream and we had the chance to play a small part in helping him realize it. Since then, his growth- and the well deserved recognition that followed has been an inspiration to us and many others.

Damien’s Journey began around family barbecues and grew into a career spent honing his craft over wood grills, rotisseries, fire cages, wood ovens, direct-heat cookers and offset smokers. Today, he is the chef and owner behind Distant Relatives, where he brings the flavors, traditions, and stories of the African American diaspora to Central Texas barbecueDistant relatives has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a spot on Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ list, while Damien has twice been named a James Bear Awards semifinalist for Best Chef: Texas.
