Who We Are

Bearing Service distributes bearings, power transmission products and related accessories to industrial customers throughout Michigan. Established in Detroit in 1943 by Herbert Mann, a veteran of the bearing industry, Bearing Service later expanded to other locations under the stewardship of Mr. He opened a branch in Warren and later moved into a new main warehouse facility in Livonia

as business opportunities in the suburbs increased. Savage’s son, Doug Savage, took control of Bearing Service in 1978, following his father’s death. He guided the company through a period of aggressive growth that saw Bearing Service open more branches and expand its core product line to include power transmission products. Today, Bearing Service successfully operates branches in Brownstown, Kalamazoo, Livonia, and Warren. Our corporate office / central distribution center is also located in Livonia. Our growth over the years is testament to Bearing Service’s unfaltering commitment to customer service excellence. Over the holiday season, Bearing Service participated in a charity event, providing holiday meals for those in need, while also donating $1,500 to Grace Centers of Hope. Bearing Service allows each employee 8 hours paid time off a year to use to volunteer for the charity or cause of their choosing to promote the greater good. We love serving our community!

Meet the Super II® V-Belt: The Heavy-Duty Performer Built for Brutal Drives

In the world of industrial machinery, durability and reliability are non-negotiables. Super II V-Belt from Timken Belts is built with a specially formulated Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) rubber compound and advanced cord placement. It is engineered to perform where traditional wrapped belts fall short–on brutal, high-load drives that test the limits of any component.

In late September, John Masek and David Hornbeck delivered two sessions at the 2025 RPM Symposium, Bearing Installation & Maintenance and Machine Tool Bearings & Spindle Repair.

Bearing Installation & Maintenance provided an intro to each type of bearing, its common applications, and the basic nomenclature as well as proper techniques for the removal and installation of bearings.

Machine Tool Bearings & Spindle Repair gave an overview of precision ball and roller bearings and how they are applied in a machine tool spindle application.

These trainings are a great opportunity to learn about the products that drive your applications, including the benefits and drawbacks of different solutions as well as how to perform maintenance to extend the life of equipment and save costs.
