Seeing design come to life in real time never gets old. Our team had the opportunity to watch the tilt-up process for one of our projects and while we've designed mechanical and plumbing systems for thousands of core and shell projects, it’s always rewarding to see one take shape firsthand.

A sincere thank you to Murray & Stafford for inviting us to the site and allowing us to witness this milestone in person!

At Thompson Engineering, we believe in celebrating the incredible talent that drives our projects forward. Today, we're proud to shine a spotlight on one of our outstanding engineers, Dustin Linquist, whose dedication and expertise were crucial in designing the mechanical and plumbing systems for the airport terminal and hangar in Key West, Florida.

Key West, Florida, renowned for its stunning sunsets, vibrant culture, and historic charm, is a unique location for a private airport hangar and terminal. Designing the mechanical and plumbing systems for such a facility involves addressing a myriad of challenges, from climate considerations to ensuring efficiency and reliability, and said simply was no small feat. As a gateway to one of the most vibrant travel destinations in the country, the facility required systems that not only met rigorous safety and efficiency standards but also aligned with the region’s unique environmental challenges. Dustin led the charge, ensuring that our designs would support the airport’s high demand while adhering to sustainability goals.

The Ramble Hotel in Denver’s trendy River North Art District (RiNo) has been voted 15 Best Hotels in Denver by Conde Nast Traveler, it’s been featured in Architectural Digest and Vogue, and listed as one of the top 60 hotels in the world by Fodor’s Travel. There is no shortage of accolades and awards for this iconic hotel, and the team at Thompson Engineering had the honor and privilege of providing the mechanical and plumbing services for this project.

The hotel is inspired by 17th-century French Salons which were known for their intellectual exchange, art and culture. Equally as important is the open and grand rooms that reflect symmetry, proportion, and classical principles of balance and harmony throughout. Our task was to design and implement the necessary mechanical and plumbing systems to seamlessly blend into the vibrant elements of the hotels atmosphere. It was particularly important to implement systems that are hidden, and quiet as to not disturb the natural ambiance.

If you’re a cocktail enthusiast, you may also know that the Ramble Hotel is home to the second outpost of the iconic New York City cocktail bar, Death & Co. This is a major attraction for guests and locals alike, and we understood that the Death & Co brand is renowned for it’s meticulous approach to cocktail making, and their bartenders are considered to be artisans who carefully craft each drink with attention to detail. We took this same meticulous approach when designing the atrium bar to ensure that the bar areas are functional, yet still complimented the charm and vibrance of the hotel.

Our team has tremendous appreciation for this project and we were truly inspired as we designed systems in the underground garage, full commercial kitchen, atrium, lobby bar, private bar, event spaces and the various designs for the 55 guest rooms. It was a true honor to be a part of this iconic hotel where we had the opportunity to blend tradition and innovation together.
