May is American Wetlands Month, a time to recognize the critical role wetlands play in protecting water quality, reducing flooding, supporting wildlife habitat, and strengthening climate resilience.

At BETA, our experienced scientists work with communities across New England on wetland restoration, habitat enhancement, ecological permitting, invasive species management, and nature-based resiliency solutions. From restoring salt marshes and riverfront habitats to supporting flood mitigation planning and native planting design, our team helps deliver projects that balance environmental stewardship with long-term community needs.

We’re proud to support projects that protect and restore these vital ecosystems for future generations. Learn more about BETA’s environmental services: https://www.beta-inc.com/services/environmental-science-services/

We’re proud to share that BETA will be working with CTDOT to support a statewide ADA accessibility planning initiative that will help communities across Connecticut improve safety and multimodal transportation network connectivity. This multi-year effort will support municipalities in identifying and removing barriers to accessibility through ADA self-evaluations, transition plans, and assessments focused on pedestrian infrastructure.

We’re excited to partner with CTDOT, SLR Consulting, and VN Engineers on this important initiative. Read more on our website: https://www.beta-inc.com/2026/05/beta-group-inc-awarded-contract-to-support-statewide-ada-compliance-planning-for-connecticut-department-of-transportation/

We’re excited to be at the 2026 Spring NEARC Conference today, where GIS professionals from across the region are coming together around this year’s theme: GIS for the Common Good.

Earlier this morning, Steavi Swinson and Isaiah Spencer presented on BETA’s Route Optimization Program - including snow/sanding routes, yard waste collection, and street sweeping - and how GIS-driven solutions are helping municipalities modernize their seasonal maintenance operations, improve efficiency, and support smarter decision making.

Happy National Public Works Week! This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” reflects the shared commitment we see every day from our municipal partners across New England to improve the communities where we live and work. From maintaining roads, bridges, and local parks to supporting unseen infrastructure that keeps every community running, public works employees provide essential services that often go unseen, but are never unnoticed.

While NPWW gives us a special opportunity to say thank you, we’re grateful for our public works partners all year round.

We’re at two different events today with one shared goal: improving communities across New England.

BETA is attending both the CASHO 2026 Equipment Show in Connecticut and the RIFMA 2026 Annual Conference in Rhode Island, connecting with municipal leaders and industry partners on infrastructure, resiliency, and public works solutions throughout the region.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Tim and Cam from our GIS/Asset Management team recently joined Matt in Bristol, RI for field training and real-time construction observations, gaining valuable insight into the process from the ground up. Experiences like this strengthen our team’s ability to make informed treatment selections, prioritize projects, and support effective Capital Improvements Program (CIP) development.

At BETA, investing in mentorship and cross-disciplinary collaboration helps us continue improving the communities where we live and work. A big thanks to Matt for sharing his knowledge and field experience with the team!

Bike trails do more than connect destinations. They strengthen communities, expand transportation options, and create spaces people want to use every day.

This Bike Month, we’re highlighting how BETA’s multidisciplinary team collaborates to deliver multi-use trail projects across New England. From transportation and structural engineering to environmental permitting and landscape architecture, our integrated approach helps communities create connected, resilient, and accessible public spaces.
