I’ve always tried to do my best at everything I do. I take pride in everything I do that’s for sure. Me as a person, an employer, a friend, a mentor, a father and so on.
3 weeks ago I went to tha local weigh station on the interstate in Mebane to do a repair on a log trailer. They let me do it in the parking lot which was great. DOT put the trailer out of service and not tha truck so tha driver left it. I went after hours to do the repair. It was rather peaceful. No one around to mess with me or look over my shoulder. 6 hrs later I was pulling out to head back to tha shop. They paid with a credit card and everybody was happy. This company is out of VA.
This mornin I get a phone call from their office. (I haven’t ever dealt with this certain guy before) The guy instantly went into cussing me out and telling me I had no idea what I was doing when I repaired their trailer. He “demanded” me to come to their yard in VA and fix what I screwed up or refund their payment. Once he quietened down, I just told him he had one more time to cuss me and I was gonna hang up. Well, I wound up hanging up. 7 phone calls later, the owner calls me. He immediately starts apologizing. (He had no clue what was goin on.) We had a very great conversation and I asked him to get me pictures of where I screwed up. 45 mins later I started getting pics of a recent repair someone else had done. (On the opposite end of the trailer). I told the owner, now crawl up under the tandems and look at the driver side spring hangers. All 3 of them. Then call me back. 20 mins went by and he calls to tell me thank you for doing what you do. I appreciate you and I will handle my employee. He then asked if the next time that trailer was down my way, if I would look at the fifth wheel plate. I paused and just told him, you need to get back up with the company that fixed it in the first place. I just ain’t gonna be caught up in someone else’s mess.
It doesn’t matter how good of a job a man can do. There’s always gonna be someone out there that will try to get over on you.
