Here is our latest forecast regarding the timing of strong to severe thunderstorms across west central and southwest Kansas this evening. There continues to be an increasing chance of storms disrupting 4th of July activities this evening, especially across west central Kansas. Areas south of Highway 50 stand a much lower chance of holiday disruption this evening as any storms farther south will likely be well after sunset.

In January of 2022 Lewis Volunteer Fire Department with the help of Linette Miller and Heather Strate applied for a Assistance for Firefighter's Grant (AFG) through FEMA requesting new bunker gear, air packs and bottles. In January 2023 Lewis Volunteer Fire Department received an email from FEMA, advising we had been awarded the grant for the equipment requested.

The equipment has been ordered! We would like to Thank Linette Miller, Heather Strate and Lewis City Council for making this possible for the Lewis Volunteer Fire Department.
