Eric Vigouroux Racing

Eric Vigouroux Racing Professional Motorsports team, race car designer EVR (ERIC VIGOUROUX RACING, INC.) AND NOW IN THE U.S. history.

A Team with a French Origin...
Eric Vigouroux is a well-known driver in the world of rally racing, in which he has evolved for more than 15 years. Eric does not owe his reputation to his sporting achievements only, but also to the choices he made from the beginning of his career by deciding to drive vehicles "made in USA", powerful and stunning at the same time. BASED IN EUROPE...
The EVR team is

a professional structure that was created in 2003. The workshops are located in the south of Paris where assistance vehicles, spare parts, equipment, and the service trucks are all stored. Paris is also where racing cars are checked between each rally race usually organized in Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal) or in Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Mauritania, etc.). In February 2013 Eric returns from Dakar and decides to set up a new entity Eric Vigouroux Racing, Inc., whose objective is to design, develop and manufacture 100% Made in USA vehicles. Eric is convinced: there is an opportunity to build high-performance rally vehicles in the United States for a more affordable budget. THE KEYS TO SUCCESS
The goal is to combine the best of both worlds: associate the experience of the rally racing discipline acquired by EVR with the historical know-how of the best performers in U.S. THE SIX MAIN REASONS TO BUILD RALLY CARS IN THE USA
1) A variety of designers, performers, and component suppliers are present on a large, competitive, and dynamic market
2) All the skills are combined in the same geographical area: the Great West of USA
3) More competitive production costs (labor, raw materials, equipment, technology, volume, etc.)
4) A national scale testing ground. Nothing better than building rally cars being located close to the desert!
5) Possibility to build FIA homologated cars, SCORE or both!
6) The significant and consistent gap between the Dollar and the Euro. Building race cars in the US is by far less expensive than in Europe. THE ULTIMATE GOAL:
Design and build very competitive rally-racing cars on all fronts in USA!

EVR evaluates Dakar 2014 and already prepares for the future!

Guerlain Chicherit was leading Special 4

Delaware 22 January, 2014 – Le Dakar 2014 has by far been the toughest edition of the last ten years, according to the unanimous opinion of all experts, and especially since the arrival of the largest motorsport event in the world on the South American continent. The figures speak for themselves: only 47% of the competitors were able to reach the finish in all categories!

Not really the ideal context for EVR who entered the new Chevrolet Colorado VX-101 rally-raid concept prototype in competition for the first time. Right from the start of the rally extreme heat and high altitude slowed down the progress of the two cars entered by the team, due to 'v***r locking', as was the case for many other competitors.

Once the race conditions improved, the qualities of the Chevrolet Colorado VX -101 could be fully expressed. Started in 23rd position at the start of the 3rd stage, Guerlain Chicherit and Alex Winocq managed to reach a magnificent 5th place. Everything was perfectly ready for the next step forward and Guerlain decided to attack with "the knife between his teeth". It took him only a few kilometers to take command of the 4th Special crossing CP1 in first position almost two minutes ahead of his nearest rival, Nasser Al Attiyah in a Mini. "Seeing our new prototype dominating the competition on the fourth day of competition was an incredible performance, even quite emotional. From that moment on we knew that our car had the potential to compete with the best," explains Eric Vigouroux.

Unfortunately during that Special the crew of the 320 had to abandon the race due to a fire in the engine compartment. “Fortunately we were able to understand what had caused the fire," commented Eric Vigouroux. “We will make the necessary improvements so that such an incident does not happen again in the future."

For their part BJ Baldwin and Quinn Cody who teamed up for the first time aboard the VX Proto EVR -101 Chevrolet Colorado No. 318, showed great regularity until the 10th day of racing. A leak in the main fuel tank eventually caused their premature withdrawal from the race because it was not possible to repair the fuel tank in time. “Too bad because their performance was improving steadily over the days,” said Vigouroux.

Concluding, the law of Dakar proved implacable for the new prototypes of the EVR team who suffered from some teething problems. Nevertheless, the team demonstrated that the potential and performance are there for the next outing. Tests are already scheduled in March 2014 in the California desert to continue the development of the car. The objective is to be back in competition as soon as possible enabling EVR to enter Le Dakar 2015 in the best conditions.
