Planting season is almost upon us. Are you ready for those unexpected tire repairs?
Planting Season Kickoff: Don’t let a tire take you out Week 1
Week 1 sets the tone for the whole season. And it’s rarely the big breakdown that steals your time—it’s the small tire issue that turns into a half-day detour, a missed window, and a domino effect you spend weeks trying to catch up from.
Before the first long day in the field or on the site, give your tires a quick reality check:
Look for early warning signs: cuts, chunking, sidewall damage, exposed cords, and anything that’s been “fine… so far.”
Check pressure when tires are cold and make sure you’re set for the load you’re actually carrying.
Inspect high-risk equipment first: tractors, implements, trailers, skid steers, loaders, telehandlers—anything that lives around sharp debris and heavy loads.
Don’t gamble on a temporary fix. A rushed repair can come back at the worst possible time.
The goal isn’t perfection—it’s uptime. When you fix it right the first time, you protect the schedule, the crew, and the equipment.
