Today hot rodding lost a real one. Ed Iskenderian, the Camfather himself, has passed away at 104. Before CNC, before catalogs full of part numbers, Ed was grinding cams by hand and changing how engines made power. His work helped build drag racing, hot rodding, and performance as we know it today.
If you’ve ever turned wrenches, chased RPM, or cared about how an engine breathes, his fingerprints were on it. Generations of racers ran Isky cams without a second thought because they worked. Period.
Give this a read and take a minute to appreciate a guy who truly built the foundation of our world. Respect to a legend.
Ed Iskenderian, the enduring and beloved “Camfather” of hot rodding, passed away Feb. 4. He was 104. For decades beginning in the 1940s, Isky's camshafts powered winners and broke records in all forms of motorsports.
