📸 This week, we're sharing Dimatix team member Harish Singh's photography story!

"My photography journey is deeply intertwined with my passion for science, both inside the lab and in the wonders of the natural world. While I love conducting experiments and exploring scientific principles through research, I am equally inspired by the extraordinary “science magic” that nature performs every day. I have devoted myself to capturing and observing breathtaking natural phenomena such as double rainbows, auroras, tornadoes, sun pillars, shoreline waves, moonbows, the Tyndall effect, and various astronomical and geographical events. Each of these marvels reveals the beauty and complexity of the physical world in ways that photos can convey and words sometimes cannot. Sharing these moments with young children and witnessing their excitement and curiosity as I explain the science behind these wonders brings me immense joy. Their eagerness to learn motivates me to keep exploring and documenting nature’s spectacular displays through my lens.

One of my favorite and most popular photos was captured during a road trip from Oregon to California, where I witnessed a perfect double rainbow. This rare phenomenon occurs when sunlight is reflected, refracted, and dispersed inside raindrops, creating two concentric arcs. The primary rainbow forms from one internal reflection, while the fainter secondary rainbow, with reversed colors, results from two internal reflections. Capturing this natural science marvel reminded me of nature’s extraordinary beauty and inspired me to keep exploring through my photography."

Her story: “Growing up, I remember always seeing my dad behind a camera or camcorder, capturing everything from big family trips to those little everyday moments. Last year, feeling a wave of nostalgia and wanting to keep memories alive in physical photobooks, I jumped into photography with an easy and fuss-free Fujifilm X-Half. I’m still a beginner and learning the ropes, but I absolutely love cherishing life’s small moments—and, of course, printing them out and filling my photobooks with them!”

📸 It’s time for another Dimatix photographer highlight! This week, we’re sharing Greg Ericksen’s story.

“My photography journey began as a teenager in a class where I learned how to develop black and white film. As I got older, I picked up a DSLR and started experimenting, discovering how to capture the moments I saw around me. I still take a lot of photos, always on the lookout for those fleeting moments that might otherwise be forgotten. Honestly, a good portion of my shots are of food—I’ll admit it! I don’t necessarily see myself as an artist, but rather a geeky engineer type who loves to play with technology.”

📸 At FUJIFILM Dimatix, our innovation doesn’t stop when we leave the workplace. It continues to show up in how our team sees the world and shares it with others!

You might be surprised how many of our teammates excel at capturing moments that inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection. From breathtaking natural phenomena to everyday snapshots that tell a story, photography has become a powerful way for multiple Dimatix employees to document both the environments around them and the passions that drive them. “My photography journey began four years ago, two-thirds of the way through freshman year of high school. Due to illness, I was stuck at home, and my father gave me one of his old professional cameras to use. I brought it everywhere with me. I eventually became my school’s yearbook editor, my advisor using some of my photos as examples in her photography classes. Currently, I am working on emulating the look of Kodak Aerochrome and TriX400. My inspirations have come from my father’s influence, the weightless feeling of a camera in my hands, and knowing my photos preserve memories and documentation of the world around me and my life.”

🧱 Future innovators in action! These students from Oxbow High School recently visited our Etna Road Manufacturing facility for a behind-the-scenes tour and a hands-on LEGO Lean Manufacturing Activity. 🙌

Using LEGO models to simulate a real production process, students worked through multiple rounds of building, problem-solving, and improving efficiency. Along the way, they explored key lean manufacturing principles like waste reduction, continuous improvement, teamwork, and standardized work, seeing firsthand how small process changes can lead to big results. Experiences like these help connect classroom learning to real-world manufacturing careers while showing how innovation and collaboration drive success on the production floor.

Thank you to Jim Pushee, Manufacturing Manager, and Kenneth Fernald, Production Training Supervisor for conducting the tour, and Jackie Driscoll, SR Continuous Program Manager, for leading the LEGO activity!
