Ever picked a paint color you loved on the chip, got it on the wall, and thought... that's not the color I chose?

You're probably not imagining it.

A little paint chip in the store can look completely different once it's actually on your wall and here's why:
the light in your room changes everything. Natural light, lamps, north-facing vs. south-facing windows, even the time of day will shift how a color reads.

Sheen matters too. The same color in matte vs. satin vs. semi-gloss can feel like two different shades.

So before you commit to a whole room, grab a sample. Paint a good-sized swatch right on your project wall and live with it for a day or two. Check it in the morning, at night, with the lights on and off.

And if you're doing a whole room, test it on a few different walls. A color can look warm and cozy on the wall that gets afternoon sun and cool or flat on the one across from it. Seeing it in every light is the only way to really know.

A few dollars for a sample can save you from repainting an entire room you're not happy with.
