Got woody debris too big for the compost pile? Don't toss it. Char it!
Last week we partnered with Tilth Alliance's Soil Stewards program at McAuliffe Park for a hands-on biochar training. The focus: turning oversized woody biomass (branches, brush, prunings) that usually gets tossed or left to slowly break down, into compost-ready biochar in a matter of hours.
Added to compost, biochar helps the pile mature faster, holds onto nutrients and moisture, and produces a noticeably richer finished product. The char made on site will go straight into McAuliffe Park's compost system.

Curious how a biochar kiln or workshop could upgrade your compost program? Link in bio, or DM us - we'd love to bring a training to your garden, farm, or community group.
