Sales Manager, Mike Garcia is a highly respected and accomplished member of our team who has been with our company for an impressive 25 years. During his time with the company, Mike has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to his work, his colleagues, and our customers, earning him a reputation as a highly valued and trusted leader for Hyperion Materials and Technologies.

Throughout his career with Sandvik, Sandvik Hard Materials, and now with Hyperion Materials and Technologies, Mike has played a critical role in driving sales growth and expanding our customer base. His strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, intense curiosity, and deep understanding of our industry have helped us to navigate countless challenges and seize numerous opportunities.

Moreover, Mike has always been an invaluable mentor and coach to many of our team members, helping them to develop their own skills and grow within the company. Today is the day! Good luck Jeffrey Taylor!

Today, March 1st, Jeff Taylor, President of Crafts Technology, a Hyperion Materials & Technologies Company, will be speaking about Tungsten Carbide PM Products in High Precision and High-performance Engineered Tooling and Wear Solutions at the MIM2023 event.

Here's a little information about Jeff:

Jeffrey Taylor is the President of Crafts Technology | A Hyperion Materials & Technologies Company, which is part of the Precision Solutions by Hyperion®. While HMT is a leader in advanced materials with decades of experience developing and manufacturing tungsten carbide powder, cemented carbide, industrial diamond, and cubic boron nitride, Crafts Technology and the Precision Solutions group specializes in the conversion of the powdered metallurgy products into finished high precision and high-performance engineered tooling and wear solutions.

Jeff’s 36-year professional career includes having worked in a variety of roles, including toolmaker and then manufacturing manager at New England Carbide, sales and sales management at A.W. Chesterton, and then ultimately as President of Crafts Technology, one of the world’s oldest continuously operated companies of its’ kind in the world. Each of these respective companies all specialize in the design and production of engineered wear solutions, cutting tools, and/or fluid handling & control products where powdered metallurgy, in the form of tungsten carbide, advanced ceramics or diamond matrices, is a core competency.

Jeffrey’s education includes an AS in Manufacturing Engineering Technology as well as a Bachelor of Manufacturing Management obtained from the University of Minnesota.

Some additional accomplishments:

1. Previously presented at The American Pulp & Paper Association (TAPPI), Water Environment Federation (WEF), Marcus Evans Hydropower Maintenance & Reliability Conference….and many other venues.

2. Past “Chairman of Certification”: Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME NS Chapter) and Advisory Council Member for National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS)

3. Three patent pending innovations including a brazed carbide tip Automated Fiber Placement [AFP] cutter/blade, a CraftAlloy™ diamond nozzle for fluid dispensing and a CraftAlloy™ diamond capillary.

Outside of work, Jeffrey is the father of two daughters, 16 and 21 years old. The oldest of which is enrolled in an Advanced Manufacturing Degree/Apprenticeship program at Harper College. His hobbies include traveling, skiing, rollerblading, mountain biking, running and he is a PADI certified Rescue Diver.

Save the Date! Wednesday, March 1st

Jeffrey Taylor, President of Crafts Technology, a Hyperion Materials & Technologies Company, will be presenting at MIM2023. The event will be held at the Hilton Orange County in Costa Mesa, CA. Jeff will be speaking about Tungsten Carbide PM Products in High Precision and High-Performance Engineered Tooling and Wear Solutions.

Tungsten carbide powdered metallurgy has played a critical role in the development of high precision injection mold tooling over the past decade, having essentially become the Best Available Technology (BAT) as it relates to the design and utility of tooling components such as core pins, valve gate bushings, nozzles, and inserts.

Some of the highest precision and highest volume plastic automotive components, medical consumables, and consumer goods in the world are now being produced at speeds and quality levels previously unattainable with commonly used hardened steels, aluminum and beryllium copper alloys.

Tungsten carbide powder metallurgy has afforded tool designers and fabricators the ability to design tooling that can significantly improve tool rigidity and wear life while also improving thermal conductivity and reducing the coefficient of friction. These are attractive features in a tool design as mold builders and molders alike regularly endeavor to improve part quality and reduce cycle time, while also being able to more easily eject parts from the mold and reduce mold maintenance intervals. Molders and mold builders no longer have to sacrifice or trade off these benefits when they elect to utilize tungsten carbide in their tooling designs.
