Several of VTN’s engineers and engineer interns joined the American Public Works Association (APWA) Young Professionals for a site visit to the City of Henderson’s new prestressed concrete water tank, currently under construction by DN Tanks and Las Vegas Paving. This at-grade tank will hold an impressive 8.45 million gallons and is designed for seismic stability, long-lasting durability, and better thermal performance—helping keep the water cooler compared to traditional steel tanks. Our group got an inside look at DN Tanks’ automated tower in action, which handles abrasive blasting, shotcrete application, and prestressing. The tank will be reinforced with about 42 miles of high-strength steel wire. It was an incredible learning opportunity for our Young Professionals!

Wetlands Park Loop Trail Completion

The Wetlands Park Loop Trail Completion Project has added five miles of new multi-use trails to Wetlands Park, enhancing access to the breathtaking 13-mile loop around the Las Vegas Wash. This project introduced approximately 1.2 miles of new trail and included significant improvements such as 12-foot-wide asphalt trails, 20-foot-wide gravel service roads, safety signage, fencing and gates, collapsible bollards, water control structures, and a prefabricated pedestrian bridge—all designed to improve accessibility and safety.
As the prime consultant, VTN is proud to have led this effort. We extend our sincere appreciation to our incredible project partners: Geotechnical & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), for their geotechnical evaluations, Rock Solid Project Solutions for their meticulous design schedule and coordination, OCMI, Inc. (O’Connor Construction Management), for their comprehensive cost estimates, and HOLCIM for their outstanding work as our contractor. We are grateful to our dedicated subconsultants for their invaluable contributions and hope the community is enjoying the newly enhanced trail system.
