Replace subjective estimates and inaccurate weight-based measurements with Loadscan’s ±1% trade-certified volumetric scanning technology. Relying on traditional methods often results in significant financial leakages due to underloading, water weight, and carryback.

By measuring actual loose volume, you ensure that you only pay for exactly what you receive.

Loadscan systems are designed to scan a vast range of loose bulk materials across the mining, civil construction, quarrying, bark and mulch industries. Because the technology utilizes non-contact laser scanning (LiDAR), it measures the physical volume of the material rather than its weight, making it effective for almost any particulate material that can be hauled in an open-bodied bin or moved on a conveyor belt.

A key advantage of scanning these materials is that the laser measurement is unaffected by variables such as moisture content, giving a true and accurate result.

Loadscan technology makes it hassle-free to monitor inventory across multiple locations.

Loadscan uses LiDAR laser scanning technology to provide accurate volumetric data on all material movements. Unlike traditional methods that rely on manual ticket counting or periodic surveys, the Loadscan system allows operators to manage their stockpiles and monitor what comes in and out of the site.

The data stream provides real-time visibility into every cubic meter of material moved.

Why reference scans still matter. | Volume 3, The Intelligence Series.

Some volume measurement equipment manufacturers promote the idea that their AI-based systems can “learn” truck shapes well enough to reduce or even eliminate reference scans. While it sounds efficient, the reality is far more complex and not nearly as accurate. Without an anchored baseline, any AI system is vulnerable to gradual drift. What appears precise today can slowly shift off target, turning reliable data into increasingly expensive guesswork.

Three signs you need Loadscan technology.

- Frequent invoicing disputes or inaccurate billing.

If your business relies on manual "guesstimates," such as counting loader buckets or using generic weight-to-volume conversion factors, you may be paying for material you never actually received. Traditional methods often fail to account for variables like moisture and compaction, leading to significant financial discrepancies.

- Undetected carryback reducing production accuracy.

Carryback (or haul-back) occurs when sticky material remains in the truck bin after dumping, distorting shift tallies and wasting fuel. If your business does not scan returning "empty" trucks, you are likely over-reporting your actual production.

- Sub-optimal fleet utilization and underloading.

When trucks are not consistently loaded to their nominal capacity, the cost-per-tonne hauled increases because more trips are required to move the same amount of material. If you lack real-time visibility into how your trucks are being filled, you are missing opportunities to optimize your fleet's efficiency.

Calibration requirements are minimal. Loadscan systems are designed for long-term stability and require only simple verification checks rather than frequent recalibration.

Unlike traditional weighing systems, Loadscan’s LiDAR laser scanning technology is virtually maintenance-free.

ESG isn’t a marketing exercise – it’s a licence to operate.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance has become a defining measure of responsible business and no longer sits in annual reports as a corporate ideal. ESG shapes investment decisions, regulatory expectations, and a company’s licence to operate.

For mining, quarrying, and civil construction, ESG carries even greater weight. These industries sit at the crossroads of environmental impact, community expectations, and regulatory oversight. They shape landscapes, influence local economies, and operate in environments where safety, transparency, and resource protection are constantly under scrutiny.

Loadscan® is the only company worldwide to have achieved trade certification approval for truck volume measurements with a load volume scanning system in New Zealand and Australia.

Our LVS system performs to the same accuracy as per Trade Approval Certificate 1556 (MAPPS NZ), pattern approval Certificate (NMI AUS), and the National Type Evaluation Program Certificate of Conformance 24-001P for weighing and measuring devices (NTEP USA).

Loadscan systems are sold as ‘monitor only’ outside New Zealand, Australia and United States but still perform to the same high tested accuracies.

Uneven distribution of material in a truck tray introduces several operational problems, including:

- Increased mechanical stress on the driveline and powertrain.

- Accelerated wear on the truck body and suspension.

- Increased likelihood of tire damage due to uneven wear.

- Safety incidents due to unbalanced loads

- Reduced payload capacity and overall haul efficiency

Loadscan’s volumetric scanning technology provides an accurate 3D scan to help overcome these challenges. By capturing a precise, visual representation of the load profile, this allows operators to identify and correct uneven loading before it becomes a problem.
