We have completed the welding to our 1600-ton crown and are now preparing it for thermal stress relieving. The enhanced main pin housing and front-to-rear tie rod designs will meet the 1.4 safety factor typically built into a press crown. Managing these large fabrications is not a problem in our newly located weld shop! After the crown cools, it will move two bays over to our mill for final machining.

Our first roll forming machine refurbishment. New upper and lower shafts of increased length were machined. We modified the bed sections to allow for increased die space. All bearings and seals were replaced, along with many other new parts. The sections were assembled and leveled, then the shafts were all aligned to catch any issues before shipping. Our customer was incredibly pleased with the result! This was a good project for us, and we hope to do more work like this.

Work has finally begun on our next expansion project! The 7200 square foot addition with 10-ton bridge crane will contain our rapidly growing Electrical Controls & Automation department. A large canopy off the rear of our most recent expansion will provide much-needed coverage for storage/parking. We look forward to the new space and how it may help to better serve our customers.

A 1600 ton four-point Verson press crown in for a major repair. The crown has seen severe stress causing fractures in floor of the crown and all around the main pin blocks. These housings were scarfed out in our weld shop then the crown was set on our mill to pre-machine for welding. Stay tuned for more on this massive project!

Interference fitting, or "shrink fitting" is a process that can be used to install bronze bushings into housings. In this example, the bushing shown here is roughly .030" larger than the bore it is installed in. Liquid nitrogen was used to freeze, or thermally contract the bushing for clearance to the bore. This bushing shrunk as much as .080" allowing easy installation. Once the bushing warms up to room temp, it will be securely locked in place.

These are some huge overload cylinders! The HOLP cylinders are designed with a working tonnage of 2000 tons each. These belong to a 4000-ton 2-point stamping press. They were disassembled and inspected, polished & re-packed. New relief valves were installed, and the cylinders were pressure tested to ensure functionality. The cylinders are ready for reinstall to protect the press from over tonnage in heavy stamping applications.

A 6000-ton press ram was recieved in bad shape! We performed an extensive weld repair, stress relieve, then machined it back square & true. We also made new bushings & kickout parts. The ram weighs 68,000lb. but was not a problem due to our large handling & machining capacity.
