Did you know that driver inattention is the leading factor in most crashes and near-crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.
Driving is a visual task and non-driving activities that draw the driver's eyes away from the roadway should always be avoided.
As of July 1, 2010, Michigan law prohibits texting while driving. For a first offense, motorists are fined $100. Subsequent offenses cost $200.

Michigan road workers stumbled across the bones of a mastodon skeleton at a road construction site last week in Kent County, MI. Initial field assessments estimate that the skeleton is about 40% - 60% complete. Drying and studying the bones could take more than a year. Afterward, they will be on display at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

"Really unique" bones of a mastodon found in Kent City, Michigan, appear to be older than 11,000 years and have belonged to a young animal.

Texting takes your eyes off the road for about 5 seconds, which greatly increases your chance of a crash. At 55 mph, that’s like driving the length of a football field blindfolded! Put your phone away and keep your eyes on the road.

The Fry Road bridge over Misteguay Creek in Saginaw County was recently opened for traffic. The old bridge was shut down after it failed an inspection in 2019 when the Saginaw County Road Commission deemed it unsafe. GLEG was chosen to be a part of the replacement project where we performed engineering assistance, inspection, and testing for the Saginaw County Road Commission.
