Construction continues at the Eco Materials site on Roberta Road.
Eco Materials is building a plant to manufacture a cement additive material from the waste perlite. The perlite material will be ground and processed for a cement additive. This additive reduces the Portland cement content required for a concrete mix. The material will be shipped out by rail, and truck.

Today we were monitoring the driving of some test piles. These 12 inch "H" piles needed to have 200,000 pounds of bearing capacity. We calculated that we would achieve this at about 45 feet, but achieved it at 30 to 35 feet.

These piles will have a large concrete footings placed on top to support the steel structures and buildings.

Set up our "Bubbler" system today in a geothermal well. This allows us to monitor the water level in a well by pumping an inert gas (in this case Nitrogen) and measure the corresponding pressure to tell us the water level above the bottom of the air line. Seeing the gas bubble through the apparatus let's us know we are pushing the water out of the bottom of the airline to ensure an accurate reading. Subtracting this reading from the length of airline used gives us depth to water below the land surface. This can also be set up with a pressure data logger to take continuous measurements while the well is in operation.
