A pub full of fathers quietly practicing braids might sound like the setup to a joke. But the reason behind it is surprisingly meaningful.
Friends, the event is called “Pints & Ponytails.” It recently went viral after videos showed dozens of dads gathered inside a London pub, each sitting with a mannequin head in front of them while professional stylists taught them how to braid and style long hair. Instead of the usual pub chatter, the room was filled with focused concentration as fathers carefully worked through ponytails, simple braids, and basic hair care techniques.
About 35 fathers attended the workshop, guided by hairstylists from a group called BraidMaidens. The idea was simple. Many dads want to help their daughters get ready in the morning, but long hair can feel intimidating if you have never been taught how to handle it.
At first glance the scene looks slightly funny. A group of grown men in a pub carefully learning braids while holding a drink is not exactly a traditional parenting class.
But the intention goes deeper than hairstyling.
Many fathers said the real goal was to be present during everyday routines. Brushing hair before school can become a small window for conversation, laughter, and trust that slowly builds over time.
Sometimes the most ordinary skills quietly turn into the strongest connections.
