This Cat® 980 came in with 36,000 hours on it. It went back out rebuilt from the bare frame up.
Every nut and bolt came off. The frame went to sandblast, our fab shop inspected it for cracks and repaired it before paint. Engine, transmission, axles, bucket and loader frame all came out and were reconditioned. We split the machine in half to get at worn bores and set new pins. The cab was stripped to its shell and rebuilt with new wiring harnesses and all new panels. Then the paint shop hand-painted it down to the bolt heads — yellow on yellow, black on black.
Before it left, the crew ran it about eight hours: implements, leaks, temperatures, hydraulic pressures, full bucket. Adjusted it, ran it longer, checked it again.
45 working days on this machine, from wash-in to roll-out.
Cat® equipment is built to be rebuilt. A Second Life rebuild is scoped to your machine and your budget — and it costs less than buying new.
