I hate to do this, especially this time of year. Had a freak accident occur today. While removing tile from a bathroom demo project, a piece of sharp tile caused a deep laceration to my shin. I’m admitted to the hospital for a simple surgery in the morning, but I’m not sure what the recovery phase will look like. I’ll post updates in time.

I will not be taking in any further work as my bench is already full. I’ll see how the next couple weeks go and attempt to accommodate whatever work I can, when I can. Thanks for your patience and understanding. This is the last thing I wanted to happen before the season cranks up.

I won’t be taking in any further work until the second week of August. A family member will be having a scheduled surgery, and I plan to be present for that and the recovery period. Thanks for your patience and understanding. I will continue to work on current projects and disposition them upon completion.

A fellow gunsmith gave me some advice. “You may have to get rough with it.”

This old *****on pump-rifle came in for and needed to be disassembled. This stubborn thing would not give. I soaked it in kroil for days/weeks, ultrasonic baths, heated with a torch, hammered, placed it in my neighbors deep-freezer, and soaked in penetrating oil some more.

“You may have to get rough with it.”

Enter THE ALMIGHTY PIPE WRENCH! 🔧

This is not a daily tool of the gunsmith, but I would be lying if I told you that this was the first time I’ve used it in this line of work.

It did the deed but left its mark.

A quick trip to the lathe and I removed the damage that was done. The part was inspected and tested for function. It will be finish with CERAKOTE® with the other metal parts. Now, I can move on with this project!
