As we enter fall after the equinox yesterday, let’s take a moment and reflect, why don’t we?
Well MacDriller’s social media presence took a break since January, you could say it was due to politics, lack of talent, or forgetfulness (we have been around for 20 years after all)!
It’s much simpler and better than that - we’ve been busy. From consulting on bore designs to design-builds, to bids, to responding to Statement of Qualification requests, 2025 has been a stellar year!
Let us catch you up on what we’ve done so far:
1) Bid on 8 bores and were awarded 3 with another 1 pending.
2) Partnered CFB Surveying, LLC to investigate and create environmental permit exhibits for 3 subaqueous directional bores beneath the Withlacoochee River (Citrus Co FL), the Anclote River, and Brooker Creek (both in Pinellas Co FL).
3) Finalized the permit drawings started 9 years ago (!) on Treasure Island (Pinellas Co FL) and 4 years ago for 2 bores on the Pithlachascotee River (Pasco Co FL) and another 5 year old vision of a crossing of the Homosassa River.
4) Assisted the consulting engineer for a Special Water District with a bore design that would allow the District to coincide in the same horizontal footprint as the power company’s bore.
5) Together with our partner American Boring & Trenching, Inc. we’ve completed 4 subaqueous directional bores for the regional power utility! All were shorter than 1000ft and each installed 1-3 HDPE conduits ranging from 6in to 8in, with 1 conduit per 3-phase feeder. 1 was within feet of a 42in HDPE force main on a 30-degree curve across a canal and each had significant challenges unique to their locations.
6) Currently drilling 2 crossings on Treasure Island, then we head to Homosassa, and hopes that we are awarded that last pending bid selection. This would equate to 8 subaqueous bores by the end of October, the most in any of the past 20 years for MacDriller, Inc.!
Stay tuned for more “boring” posts 😁
