☀️ ! ☀️

The first official day of summer was yesterday, and we’re more than ready for longer days, warmer weather, and all the fun adventures this season brings. Whether you’re heading out on a road trip, spending time near the water, exploring local parks and trails, or simply enjoying a slower evening outside, we hope this summer brings plenty of time to recharge and connect.

As schedules fill up with vacations, gatherings, and outdoor fun, don’t forget to stay safe: drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, watch out for one another, and take care while traveling, recreating, or working in the heat!

What are you most looking forward to this summer? Share your plans in the comments! 😎

✨ Celebrating Juneteenth! ✨

Today, we recognize , also known as or , the United States' newest federal holiday and a powerful celebration of freedom, resilience, and the enduring contributions of African Americans throughout our nation's history.

Observed each year on June 19, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. The day stands as both a celebration of liberation and a reminder that progress toward justice has often come too slowly and required tremendous courage and perseverance.

As we honor this important day, we also recognize the value of continuing to learn from our history, listening to diverse perspectives, and working toward communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. It is a time to reflect on the significance of freedom, recognize the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice, and celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of African Americans.

Today, we reflect on the past, celebrate the progress made, and look ahead with hope for a more equitable future. 🖤❤️💚

The Washington Bike Month Challenge came down to the wire, and Team SCJ wasn't about to let our neighbors take the win. 🚴‍♂️💨

On Saturday, SCJ Seattle's Susann, Scott, and Andrew rode 45 miles from Alki to Marymoor Park in Redmond to help rack up the miles. Along the way, Andrew and Susann got a firsthand lesson in drafting as Scott set a pace that kept everyone working hard. After reaching Marymoor, Andrew and Susann caught a ride home while Scott turned around and rode all the way back because apparently 45 miles wasn't enough. 😅

The extra effort paid off. SCJ finished the challenge ahead by more than 100 miles!

A huge shoutout to everyone who logged miles throughout Bike Month and helped power Team SCJ to victory. 🏆🚲

Cake was on the agenda in our Crested Butte office as we celebrated civil engineering project manager Matt Mielke's birthday! 🎂

We took a break from projects and deadlines to enjoy some cake and celebrate Matt's contributions to the team. Wishing him a fantastic year ahead filled with success, adventure, and plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Today's features one of the key ingredients from our Friday festive, refreshing drinks. 🌿
The fresh mint was too good to toss, so it found a second life in this mug—looking great and ready for the next round of refreshments.

One of the things we love most about our employee-owners is their commitment to staying connected, whether that means gathering over coffee to catch up and collaborate or coming together on a Saturday to keep projects moving before summer schedules kick into full swing! ☕☀️💻

Our team did both this past week! First, a handful of planners, including Office Principal Aren Murcar, met up for coffee and conversation, taking time to connect outside the office, enjoy some sunshine, and recharge together. Later in the week, Aren and Project Manager Lauren Schubring got together for a productive weekend work session, tackling projects and getting ahead before summer vacations and busy summer schedules begin.

While the settings may have been different, both moments reflect the same thing: a team that values collaboration, supports one another, and is always willing to go the extra mile for each other, our clients, and the communities we serve.

Here's to strong teams, meaningful connections, and great work wherever it happens. 👏
