A Special Tribute: 150 Years of Torrance Casting

Some traditions are worth carrying on through generations.

Years ago, fourth-generation Torrance family member Bud Torrance was honored with a statue known as “The Casting Man.” Today, after 56 years of dedication to Torrance Casting, Bill Torrance received that same special honor when his son, John, presented him with his very own Casting Man statue in celebration of our 150th anniversary.

What makes this tribute even more meaningful is the story behind it. John began planning this surprise in late 2025, reaching out to the very same artist who created the original Casting Man statue. Continuing the family tradition, John's sons also had the opportunity to help create the statue at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), making this a truly multigenerational project.

A special thank you to University of Northern Iowa Metal Casting Center for opening its doors and helping bring this meaningful tribute to life.

As we celebrate 150 years of Torrance Casting, this statue represents more than our history. It honors the generations of hard work, dedication, and family legacy that have shaped our company since 1876.

Here's to 150 years of casting history and the generations who continue to carry it forward!

Huge shoutout to our incredibly brave team members who took the plunge this weekend at the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics athletes!

Not only did they face freezing temperatures head-on, but they also helped raise funds for an amazing cause that empowers athletes of all abilities to compete, grow, and shine. We’re proud to have team members who are willing to step outside their comfort zone—way outside—to make a difference.

Famous last words before jumping in:
"Molten iron suddenly sounds comfortable."

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered them on. Your support helps create opportunities and unforgettable moments for Special Olympics athletes everywhere!

For 150 years, we’ve been proud to be part of this community — and on March 7th, we’re showing that commitment in a bold (and chilly!) way.

Our team is taking the plunge at the Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics Wisconsin! Just like in our foundry, we believe in showing up, giving our all, and supporting something bigger than ourselves.

If you would like to join us in supporting a great cause, see our team link below. Every donation helps make a difference for Special Olympics athletes across our state.
