Most combustible dust conversations stop at “keep it clean.”

But NFPA 660 and OSHA both push you to go further: define what “clean” actually means in measurable terms.

A light film of dust on the floor, a ledge, or a beam might look harmless. In reality, that thin layer — especially when it keeps coming back — is exactly what should trigger a housekeeping and classification review:

🔴 What material is this?
🔴 How deep is the layer?
🔴 How often does it return?
🔴 Where is it accumulating (floors, beams, equipment, above ceilings)?
🔴 What classification actually applies to this area?

NFPA 660 rewards facilities that can put a number on their dust, not just a description of it. Once you know the layer depth and the area classification, vacuum selection is no longer guesswork or a marketing exercise. It becomes a documented requirement.

Choosing the right industrial vacuum filter isn't just about suction power. It's a critical decision for facility safety and continuous performance.
Using the wrong filter can lead to clogged machines, dangerous dust exposure, or even combustible dust hazards. Matching the filtration system to the specific material behavior is essential.

Here are 3 key factors to evaluate before your next setup:
🔹 Filter Class: M-Class for general industrial maintenance, or HEPA (H13/H14) for strict EHS compliance with toxic and fine powders.
