GeoStructures is pleased to offer high-quality concrete petrography services!

GeoStructures’ team of experienced petrographers utilizes polarizing light microscopy and petrographic thin section analysis to unlock the microscopic secrets of concrete’s big-picture ideas.

GeoStructures’ petrographers characterize concrete samples based on the following characteristics:

• Composition of aggregates (ASTM C259)
• Quality of cement paste (ASTM C856)
• Water/cement ratio
• Air void percentages (ASTM C457)
• Depth of carbonation
• Evidence of alkali-silica reactions (ASTM C856)

Our petrographers tailor their approach to fit client needs, thus providing insight into potential failure mechanisms, corrosion, weathering/leaching, fire damage, sulfate attack, freeze/thaw durability, and more!
